Chinese consulate in Houston evicted by Friday at 4 pm

U.S. gives China 72 hours to shut Houston consulate as spying charges mount

The State Department said the Chinese mission in Houston was closed “to protect American intellectual property and Americans’ private information”.

While offering no specifics about the Houston consulate, Pompeo referred to a U.S. Justice Department indictment on Tuesday of two Chinese nationals over what it called a decade-long cyber espionage campaign that targeted defense contractors, COVID researchers and hundreds of other victims worldwide.

“President Trump has said: ‘Enough. We are not going to allow this to continue to happen,’” Pompeo told reporters. “That’s the actions that you’re seeing taken by President Trump, we’ll continue to engage in this.”

Republican Senator Marco Rubio, acting chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, described the Houston consulate on Twitter as the “central node of the Communist Party’s vast network of spies & influence operations in the United States”.

So this decade-long cyber espionage campaign is just being acted on by this clown administration? Curious timing this in this season of electioneering.

I'm sure Chinese spying should be countered, but there are distinct 'look at the squirrel' elements to this now.

Too late and not sincere.

The Chinese have bought important sectors of both partys.

For a long time the Chinese have also been sold a significant number of the graduate spaces in US top universities. This occurs largely in the STEM area and works against the US nurturing, creating local talent.
Furthermore it facilitates the illegal transfer of science and technology to a power which has been displacing the US in a number of countries/continents.

Yep. That's how I saw Russiagate and the ridiculous impeachment over a completely legal phone call with Ukraine as well.

Politics has gotten so weak in the last few decades. It's become a child's game. And it's both sides. That's why I'm independent.

Your claim of being independent is absurd.

My conclusion based on your posts in this forum is that you support Trump because he supports your white supremacist beliefs.

Yes, he’s either a complete fool, or a paid provocateur. No one could really be as ignorant as this ass makes himself out to be, surely.

In retaliation, China has now seized the consulate in Chengdu:

Chengdu consulate is somewhere between 3 and 4 times bigger than Houston's and 2/3 of their workforce were locals.
