Don’t Blame Me If Trump Wins

This is an excellent article IMO.

Quote:

Trump may be atrocious, flippant, idiotic, and disgusting on numerous levels. Still, he’s not wrong when he points out that the Democrats have sold the nation’s working class down the river in the name of “free trade.” The Clintons’ noxious embrace of the North American Free Trade Agreement – a disaster for the U.S. working class – and Obama’s revolting championing of the arch global-corporatist, arch-authoritarian and darkly secretive Trans Pacific Partnership speak volumes about neoliberal-era Democrats’ deep enmeshment in the perverse politics of the financial Few over and against the Many and the common good.

Trump’s not wrong when he says that Hillary’s foreign policy positions and actions have sown chaos and disaster in the Middle East, specifically in Iraq, Libya, and Syria. And Trump’s not wrong when he says that Hillary and her husband have a long and terrible record of corruption reaching back to Whitewater, up through Benghazi and the email scandal, the atrocious globalist Clinton Foundation, and the Big Creep’s unseemly airport encounter with Loretta Lynch last week. The preposterous Trump’s cynical take on the shady, scheming, and elitist Clintons, Obamas, and other top Democrats is all too sadly rooted in reality.

Trump doesn't broker agreements and TSPs. He just doesn't pay the workers. He bankrupts contractor companies, his own company, and he takes the money, runs, and lawyers up.

In the end, they get screwed either way.

About half of Trumps support is from anti-Hillary voters and about the same for Hillary from anti-Trump voters. Let's assume that these numbers will stay till November.

It's quite possible that Hillary's support will soften significantly since the FBI report was publicized. If so her margin in the polls can only diminish thus making the election a tossup. OTOH, Trump may be able to stall on his TrumpU lawsuit thus minimizing any fallout from his support.

.

Our election system is so broke, so corrupt, and we as a society refuse to be bothered with fixing it. We just stick our heads in the sand and play along. It's almost as if we as a society want this country to fail. Almost as if we're trying to give it away to the highest bidder because we don't want to fuck with it. Like many of the issues that face our society today that have plagued us for decades.

This says quite a bit about us as a people. We have the potential for greatness, but we don't want to fuck with it.

Our for-fathers would be proud.

I just don't see Trump as being anywhere near as bad as Hillary.

Trump University, yeah, that's a scam, but no worse than hundreds, shit thousands of other scams out there. And it pales in comparison to the way Wall Street rips off Main Street on a daily basis. I feel that Trump is, quite frankly, being treated very unfairly and I think it's mostly because he's not a political insider.

It's not being fixed because it already is "fixed" so that very powerful people with lots of money can continue to be very powerful and make even more money.

If you are worried about Wall Street ripping off Main Street..... Then why do you support Trump? Trump IS Wall Street.

No, he isn't.

Trump is Trump.

As for what kind of President he would be, I have no idea.

And neither do you.

But with Hillary I know.

She will be same shit different day and that is no good as far as I am concerned.

At least with Trump we have a chance.

And if he's bad, we get a chance to run a real progressive against him in four years.

On the other hand if Hillary is elected we are also going to be stuck with her in 2020 because no matter how bad she is, it is virtually unheard of for a sitting President not to get their parties nomination if they run for reelection.

So that means 2024 is the next chance to run a true progressive, which Hillary is not.

The article cited in the OP starts with the premise that trade agreements are inherently and indisputably bad. I think that such agreements, on balance, are good for the country and its workforce.

No, they are not inherently bad.

They are bad because they are being written by lobbyists for multi-national corporations.
