F*ck Ben Carson

This article is really riling up the 'Baggers.

http://www.gq.com/story/fuck-ben-carson

It's hard to take issue with its main point though:

You are now bearing witness to an arms race of stupid, because stupid is in such high demand from the GOP base at the present moment. Stupid is what gets you attention, and attention is what gets you better polling numbers.

icenine 10-09-2015 03:24 PM

My sentiments exactly.

donquixote99 10-09-2015 03:29 PM

Yeah, but isn't calling your essay "Fuck Ben Carson" kind of saying there's an 'arms race of stupid' in commentary as well?

BlueStreak 10-09-2015 03:40 PM

Putting the working poor between themselves and the hard realities of life has long been the modus operandi of the rightwing elite. Look at all of the top Republicans in the last couple decades who were/are draft dodgers. Trump comes immediately to mind.

What's ironic is that the average schmuck still thinks only Democrats engage in such hypocrisy. That they are somehow voting for "warriors" when they vote Republican................ There is no basis in fact for any of it.

No.

Unprofessional, maybe. But the content of the article is spot on.

ZeroJunk 10-09-2015 05:14 PM

So, you don't like Ben Carson, but you like Al Sharpton and talk about somebody else being stupid.

I have a pretty good idea that Carson is smarter than any of us.

I certainly didn't do what he did with what he had to do it with and none of you have done anything but get a job and bitch because you didn't become a multi millionaire making widgets for somebody else.

I mean the effort ya'll must have put in to that.

Well, OK. Maybe I should have said 'an arms race of stupid in headlines.'

Well, you are a liberal. And, your handlers are telling you not to like Carson.

I suppose because he does not fit the mold of the downtrodden black victim or buy in to that mentality.

In other words he is a threat to the government will do it for you vote buying Democratic strategy.

Nah, outside of his medical accomplishments, he's just plain stupid when it comes to politics and public policy. I suppose that's what endears him to 'Baggers.

bobabode 10-09-2015 06:20 PM

There you go again, Zero.

Pio1980 10-09-2015 07:19 PM

I heard Carson being interviewed about how he'd handle spending and the economy as president, his responses showed a breathtaking lack of understanding of how this actually works in reality. He wants to pay for increased spending for defense and other items with tax and personnel cuts. We saw how that worked under Bush-II, it didn't.

That's the Reagan recipe all Republicans must follow. Carson couldn't know less about the economy or foreign policy. Accordingly, he's fertile ground for discredited Supply-Siders and NeoCons.

Pio1980 10-09-2015 07:26 PM

Candidate Carson comes across as an idiot savant outside of his field of expertise.

He has the arrogance of someone who thinks that since they are an accomplished surgeon everything else in life is easy, such as being a President. He is condescending if you sit back and listen to him.
He is the type that puts down people that major in liberal arts, etc. Well that is my impression anyway.

He will never ever be President because in the end he is unlikeable to most Americans, baggers notwithstanding.

Tom Joad 10-09-2015 07:37 PM

Why single out Carson?

The entire Republican Party is rotten to the core.

The most moderate Republican of today is far more radical and dangerous than the most batshit crazy Bircher of the 1950's and 60's.

Fuck them all.

Fuck them all.

The long and the short and the tall.

All kidding aside, do you think everyone has handlers, just because you do, meme-repeater?

And then there's the story about Carson spotting what he thought was a new tumor inside the skull of a patient he'd operated on several times in the past. When he went in to do an exploratory, he didn't find a tumor but he did discover a surgical sponge he'd left in her head the last time.

Well, I was hoping you wouldn't have come up with the stupid crap you do on your own.

ZeroJunk 10-09-2015 09:23 PM

You can always blame the dismal job Obama has done across the board on racism or Bush.

Problem for the left is that if Carson is elected he will expose Obama for the dud he is.

You do not have to lie to "swift boat".

Just attempt to smear, discredit in the field of competence.

Yes, I do. The man went from single parent urban wasteland to being famous surgeon .

As, opposed to being a community organizer , laugh out loud.

Not true either. Swiftboating is an attack on a person's character, not competence.

Look, the ass clowns who think Carson is qualified for the presidency by virtue of his supposed brilliance as a neuosurgeon are immune to arguments explaining why the one isn't a qualification for the other.

I'm sure that Smoothie thinks Reagan was a brilliant president but does he think that means he would have been a great brain surgeon.

Anyway, maybe if it's shown that Carson's brilliance was in self-promotion but that he was a rather ordinary surgeon, they might have a more reasoned view of his qualifications for the White House.

Here smear by implying incompetence.

The interviewer seemed flabbergasted with the irrationality of his statements.

Doesn't matter.

Crazy talk works with Republican primary voters.

I predict that in the upcoming weeks Carson will hang right in there with Trump at the top of the field.

Zeke 10-09-2015 11:38 PM

The further you go in education the more singular your knowledge becomes. By the time one becomes a PhD or MD, you are absolutely the most intelligent person on Earth in your uber defined genre. That doesn't mean you know dick about anything else.

1. Carson might be a world class surgeon in his specialty.
2. That doesn't mean he can competently change a flat, let alone run the Federal government.

4-2-7 10-10-2015 01:35 AM

I can understand that Zeke.

We just went though 7 years of Obama's community service profession, two years of a no vote no show senator.

One thing about a President none of them need to or do know a lot about the job. They get informed when they need to and assemble a team to handle everything. All a president does is nod yes or no.

Zeke 10-10-2015 08:29 AM

Except, of course, a degree in Constitutional Law places Obama's narrow field of knowledge squarely in the path of Presidential ability.

Carson's places his in the path of -- at best -- Surgeon General. Not a bad place to be but nothing like the Executive.

A little funny coming from somebody supporting a community organizer, whatever the hell that is.

No, I just believe that at this point in time anybody who does not know that Obama will down in history as a bigger dud than Jimmy Carter is living in some alternate reality.

At least I realize that Bush was bad.

I'm just curious how much worse it will have to get.

If somebody does not get this train turned around it is going to crash.

And, of course it will be Bush's fault.
