Trump Promises War with Iran

2 Attachment(s)
I think it was sort-of a slip, and very revealing. I'm surprised more people haven't picked-up on it. It's in one CBS story, and some Israeli media are repeating it, and that's it. I've already quoted it in the 'quotes' topic here, but I think it deserves more prominent placement.

Trump is an authoritarian who will resort to force, and then more force when things don't work out well. I see no reason not to expect him to use nukes. In this way he has every chance of topping the WWII death toll of 200 million, should he gain power.

The Iran threat was at the Iowa State Fair, 15 Aug 2015. Here are two screenshots of the CBS story, in case it doesn't stay up, first the head of the story, and then a snip from further down, with the relevant quote highlighted:

All of the Republican candidates want war with Iran.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 01:09 PM

We've been in proxy wars with Iran for years.

Hard-dee-har.

Just a fact - anyway,no one is going to send troops to fight Iran.

That's what drones, the NSA, and Israel are for.

Anyhow, it's Monday and I am not really here.

donquixote99 08-17-2015 03:07 PM

He'll send the troops. He'll want the oil.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 03:09 PM

We don't need oil - the price is too low already.

I can see him torching their capacity to drive up the price.

Drooooooones.

They'll all send the troops and the bombs and the missiles and the contractors.

It's their job to keep the Military Industrial Complex fat full with taxpayer dollars.

Snot Walker has already said he'll be ready on day one.

And Jeb Bush says we need to show that we have skin in the game.

That would be your kids skin, not his.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 03:12 PM

No troops to Iran - prob. back to Iraq and maybe Lebanon - and selling more arms.

Unless a Republican is elected.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 03:15 PM

Nah - not unless Iran does something completely overt and idiotic - not their style - they ride the margins of perceived allowability.

Like Saddam did by brazenly stockpiling Weapons of mass destruction?

No one liked Saddam - Iran has some allies and hasn't (yet) done enough to sway world opinion to make a ground war/invasion feasible or necessary.

Yeah, world opinion was really with us on Iraq.

It was a real righteous war.

You know Cats, when you come here and try to rewrite history like that you need to remember that not everybody on this forum is as stupid as your buddies down at the Country/Western Titty bar.

Go back and have a look - the world signed off and sent a boatload of people and bombs.

They may have done it grudgingly, but there it is.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 03:46 PM

OK, have to get some work done.

Don't attack any countries until I get back.

Iran has hundreds of miles of coast from which it can launch anti-ship missiles. Guess how much oil gets out of the Persian Gulf without their consent. For this reason, bombing Iran makes necessary the invasion of Iran.

What do we use for a blueprint, our resounding success in Afghanistan? And where did you pull Lebanon out of, thought our ultimate ally and friend, aka. Israel is keeping an eye on them.

Nobody was on board.

For instance in the UK 1 million people marched against the war. 1 million. The largest demonstration in the history of the country and that was Americas strongest ally.

If you think anybody apart from the political and corporate shills that run our various countries wanted the war. I've got a bridge to sell you on the moon.

Dude, just shoot yourself now and get it over with. You are so miserable about everything - it's painful to watch.

I can see that too.

BTW Trump is the only politician who speaks graphically about the limbless
nature of the Iraq war.

No boots on the ground for this guy.

bobabode 08-17-2015 07:09 PM

Still pissed that Obama finished the job Gee Dubya couldn't or wouldn't, Cats?

ISIS - it's not just for Iraq anymore. Syria, Lebanon, Egypt - coming soon to a country near you.

I'm sorry - you mentioned something about something or other being finished?

Pfft.

Because we should be happy about a pointless war that's killed and wounded thousands of American and led to ISIS running around raping and beheading everybody that's not crazy like them. Uh OK.

You're a Trump voter aren't you...

Cats is disappointed that Obama's collateral damage is so small compared to Dubya's.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 07:16 PM

Those are so cute - and total BS.

You get your blindly against whatever is fashionable pin, though.

I say again, there is no way to suppress their ability to interdict tanker traffic in the gulf, except with boots on the ground. Once you start a war with Iran, you have to finish it, one way or another, before the oil flows again, from anyone.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 07:20 PM

Obama said we were the f*&K out of there - we're not the f*&K out of there.

I didn't support either original incursion - let them blow each other the fuck up.

If you're going to go in, go all in - conquer the damned shithole or stay home.

Well, to give credit where it's due, without Gee Dubya and his merry band of PNAC neocons invading the wrong country after 9/11, there wouldn't be that unholy alliance of Baathists and Al Queda known as ISIL.

Nah - college kid employees making a mess so I decided to yell at y'all.

I'm better now.

Damned kids.

catswiththum 08-17-2015 08:10 PM

Sorry - they are good kids and hard workers, but sometimes . . .

Anyway, not your fault.

Matteos, don't shoot yourself.
Beamon, no fashionable cause pin.
Bobabode, don't join ISIS.
