Campaign of deception

This boils my blood. 😡
PP helps so many women in many ways.

The Republicans have no honor.

Pio1980 07-22-2015 11:00 AM

Pox Noise has been beating the drums hard on this heavily edited ambush job on PP.
The Religious Right has had it out for this affordable and necessary women's health service organization and the folks that pander them have cashed in on it.

Will you enlighten us on the whole conversation that took place? I'm curious to see the context of her remarks.

Pio1980 07-22-2015 11:25 AM

Ask the folks that did the job for the full unedited videos from ALL their encounters with PP. Good luck.
Same with the hatchet job on ACORN.

I believe that point that Barbara is making is this and not who said what.
Quote:

After the first video’s release, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky pledged to “introduce an amendment to pending Senate legislation to immediately strip every dollar of Planned Parenthood funding.” Senator Ted Cruz of Texas called for defunding and for “an investigation of Planned Parenthood’s activities regarding the sale and transfer of aborted body parts.” The House Energy and Commerce Committee is undertaking an investigation, and Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana have ordered investigations in their states.
Question is why?

Vote whoring the religious Right.

Maybe because I'm a woman, this seems so personal to me..... I don't know. From what I know about PP.... Abortions are a very minor part of the services they offer.
Their biggest role, in my opinion, is education and preventative care.

Pretty much true, and to women of limited means.

To me it seems illogical to limit abortion by whatever means necessary, that then leads to unwanted births to women that cannot or will not bring up these children. Pandering to the sanctimonious right for the purposes of vote whoring only impoverishes a society in the long run. Does God really want that?

Or to be callous about it, who is paying for these children's care when it all boils down. It's bad enough keeping track of deadbeat dad's.

PS: I have often wondered why abortion is bad yet it is OK to send children to war to kill or be killed?

Absolutely, and if I might be so bold...the right's entire pro-life position is so riddled with hypocrisy as to make it completely untenable.

Two issues, for instance.

First, the right is endlessly bleating about abortion coverage under the ACA. When back in 2003 a Kaiser Family Foundation survey found that 46% of covered workers had full access to abortion services, paid for, in part, by conservative pro-lifer's own premiums. On top of that, in 2010 Kaiser determined that 3 in 10 employers reported that their programs covered elective abortion, and the balance of 70%, declined to answer either way. Kaiser estimated that at least half of those had policies that covered elective abortion, but would not report it for fear of backlash from pro-life groups. So...right-wingjobs, the health employer sponsored health insurance you love so much is probably paying for plenty of elective abortions. Do they know it? I say they good and goddamn well know it...It's just a little inconvenient to admit it.

Next...all life is sacred, they say. So all those embryos belonging to conservative couples who have no need for them anymore and that are being destroyed every day with no objection by the couples or by so many pro-life activists...why are those babies not sacred?

Hypocrisy abounds

Margaret Sanger was a tad suspect - give her publications an objective read.

Just read them and see what you think - it doesn't matter what the media - left or right - thinks - they need to sell toothpaste - it matters what you make of what she wrote.

The video is so jiggered that what you ask isn't possible unless O'Keefe's girlfriend turns over all the footage.

I'm curious, what does Sanger have to do with the modern day Planned Parenthood?

Wikipedia is an unreliable source - get a JStor account and read thousands of academic/scientific journals - read the works of the authors, not what some internet person thinks of the works of the authors.

Pio1980 07-22-2015 02:01 PM

Wiki seems ok with Margaret Sanger.

Do you know? Do you want to know? Do you refuse to even think about it because some right wing hack may have vilified her to boost ratings?

Some talking head is no substitute for a critical mind.

Why don't you just quote your buddy Ben.

You know you wanna.

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/conten...e-black-people

Quote:

Ben Carson responded to a deceptively edited right-wing video about Planned Parenthood last week by accusing the group’s founder, Margaret Sanger, of trying to “eliminate black people.”

In an interview with Iowa talk radio host Jan Mickelson, Carson responded with outrage to an audio clip of President Obama saying “God bless you” during a speech to Planned Parenthood.

“You wonder if he actually knows the history of Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger, who was trying to eliminate black people,” he said. “That was the whole purpose of it.”

His allegation rests on a debunked claim that has circulated through right-wing circles for years that Sanger was using birth control to exterminate the African American community.

Carson also promised that he would use Hillary Clinton’s praise for Sanger and her relationship with Saul Alinsky against her in the presidential race, claiming that he would “educate the people” that the campaign is really about a divide between “American and anti-American things.” This led him to attack the Affordable Care Act, which he said was illegitimately “shoved down our throat” … even though it became a law just as any other law does through an act of Congress.

I find it so interesting that the founders will be excused for their attitudes toward blacks and the womenfolk as being products of their time. But Margaret Sanger...she remains on the hook. It's that pesky XX, every time.

Everyone wants to quote someone.

We are all becoming political sheep - following whatever shiny little tidbit the breathless, uneducated, uninformed media (left and right) dangle.

So start a "founding fathers were misogynist assholes" thread.

No - not purposefully - but take a look at the statistics - Black and Hispanic abortions outnumber White and Asian abortions by almost 5 to 1.

They are no doubt trying to help poor mothers, but the minority population is receiving the most abortions.

And yes, I am aware of the economic statistics.

Surely by now you've realized that 'Free Speech' is the overarching concept of this forum, besides that Ike's post was on topic. ;)

Left wing media is pretty well informed. The farther left you go, the more factual it is.

The right on the other hand are experts at using a hybrid Joseph Goebbels/Madison Avenue technique.

They manipulate with half truths and outright lies.

What handicaps the left in the information war is that they are basically honest.

The right on the other hand is utterly Machiavellian.

catswiththum 07-22-2015 02:22 PM

And this is not somehow Planned Parenthood instigating this. It is a result of other factors that these women seek out PP's assistance.

Did you think us southpaws haven't seen the way the Frightwing uses her outmoded views on race and eugenics to slander the modern Planned Parenthood?

That it's those BLACKS AND HISPANICS that are getting most of these ABORTIONS.

Although economics may play some minor role.
