I'll sleep well tonight
Spent eight hours at the hospital today and after giving her every test in the book (At least we know her basic health is good) they did a CAT scan. Florence has fluid on her right lung. They are keeping her overnight and will remove the fluid in the morning. Then she should be back to normal in a few days. Thank you Mother Mary.:)

Good news, Rob!

Glad to see she's in good health and hope it continues long into the future.

Our thoughts are with you.
|
I hope she has a full recovery.

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery out your way.

Spent a quiet afternoon with her and told her of your well wishes and she asked me to thank you all for your kind thoughts. She is to stay another night mainly I suspect because they removed two litres of fluid from the lung, As cam be expected she is tired but much improved.
|
Feeling much improved is excellent! Please give Florence my best wishes for a quick getaway! :)

She is where it is best right now. No sense taking a chance. They probably just wanted to
keep an eye on her as a precaution. Barney |
I hope so much that everything is healing nicely, Rob!

As y'all might imagine the house is so empty without her here. Fell asleep in front of the TV last night. Woke up at 2:00 AM and went to bed, woke just at 6:00 AM fed the kitties and am just about to get my second coffee.
|
You and Florence are in our thoughts tonight, Rob.
|
Florence came home yesterday and just now I think I'll take her up a second cup of coffee.
|
So glad to hear she is home!!

What Barbara said!
|
Good news, Rob.
|
She is still tired and says she feels like a pin cushion. Asking Mother Mary for her intercession as we get the results of the pathology tests on the fluid tomorrow.
|
Great progress Rob!

I misheard the doctor and the fluid was in the right lung cavity not the lung proper. We saw our GP yesterday. The pathologist found cancer cells in the fluid. We need to do a full body scan to locate the source. Blood work rules out leukemia Liver and Kidney tested good, we are guessing that the ovarian cyst might be involved.
Our GP is sending her to the oncology group at Howard Gen and we are going to fight, this damn thing cannot have her. Probably go the chemotherapy route. So if I am scarce around here you will understand why. |

Prayers for the both of you, Rob.

Rob, my thoughts are with you and Florence. At least you're close to good hospitals. HoCoGen is quite good and Hopkins, with which Howard is affiliated, is the best.
|
I do not have to wish it; all will be well.
"...but the greatest of these is love." |
I also know everything will be done to fix this. You will see to this. Knowing you are busy doing research and will treat this as other challenges overcome.

My only problem with research is that our Internet access is on the blink. The Comcast tech yesterday found that the signal is leaving the pedestal at 21dB but it is down to 4dB at the house entrance point. He said they will need to replace the entrance cable - all 250 feet of it. So our cable modem is having a tough time getting good packets across.

My very best wishes to Florence and I am certain that you will do your best to find the best healthcare for her.
|
Hoping for the best for the two of you. 💙

Strange the connection has its moments and is good at the moment. We have the PET/CT full body scan set for Aug 3 and an oncologist set for Aug 6. Then we will know what the future looks like The oncologist a Dr. Lee come highly recommended, he is with the Maryland Oncology Hematology group that our doctor recommended to us. The doctor that looked after Florence at HCGH during her recent stay has already discussed her case with him so that should save time. I also wrote to HCGH to get all the records from her 1980 ovarian cyst surgery - that is if they keep records that long, HIPAA only requires 8 years I believe. Depending on how thy search the doctors might not find the records because her surname was different then. When we met in 1983 she was a recent widow. Some places search on the last four digits of your SSN.
Dear God but the waiting is hard - and tiring. |

We were back at Emergency yesterday, of course they could not take the word of a layman and went through the whole protocol again - blood tests -EKG - X-ray. Well at least they stopped short of the CAT scan - bloody bureaucrats. Finally they removed 1700Ml of the same fluid and we found an intelligent doctor in Radiology. He gave Florence their fax number and said have your doctor fax in a standing order for a pleural effusion. That way the next time she is short of breath w go straight to radiology. We went in at 11:00 AM and did not get out until 5:30 PM and I'm sorry but that is unconscionable. Despite Saint Paul's admonition I have never been able to suffer fools gladly.
She is sleeping quietly just now an I shall let her rest- funny she scares me sometimes because she sleeps so soundly. In 32 years I have never heard her snore or anything close to that. Sorry to rant but she is my love and my life. Saw orange paint all along the side of the driveway so I guess Comcast came while we were out to lay out the path of the old entrance cable. Good because right now the service sucks. Thank you all for your kind thoughts, it is appreciated. |
We finally saw the Oncologist yesterday and he did confirm hat it is inoperable lung cancer, but he also told us that it is treatable and he feels that he can restore her health towhere she can lead a reasonably normal life.
So my prayers to Mother St. Andrew have been heard as have the prayers of all of the Sisters at the CDP as well as your good wishes. The doctor has ordered further analysis of the cancer cells and should they prove to show the presence of a certain gene there are medications that will stop their growth. |
