Republicans ripping off songs

Several GOP contenders seem to be adopting rock songs as their campaign theme song without permission. What happened to the Party of Individual Responsibility.

Latest was yesterday by 'I am the Richest' Trump of a Neil Young song "Rockin' in the Free World". Neil is a Sanders supporter. :)

Then there was Scott Walker ripping off (which seems to be habitual for him) a DropKick Murphy's song which elicited this response from the group. "please stop using our music in any way...we literally hate you !!! Love, Dropkick Murphys".

There is more. ;)

Rockstars knock Republicans for campaign songs
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/republic...2016-campaign/

Of course, we all know the real reason, no self respecting rock musician will ever let their music co-opted by the GOP unless the name is Nugent. :D

Neil Young is hopping mad over the Donald. So Trump says he won't be using it again since Young is pissed off...and that he's a fan. To which I'm sure Neil Young has remarked privately to the effect that Donald Trump can go fuck himself.

Just goes to show The Donald is more open minded. :)

Right wingers are always ripping off songs from lefty musicians.

That's because the overwhelming majority of people with artistic talent tend to be liberal.

I mean who the Hell do they have?

Hank Williams Jr?

Ted Nugent?

nailer 06-18-2015 11:38 AM

Shit TJ, they'll rip our shirts right off our backs if we aren't careful.

They wouldn't want mine.

I don't wear Abercombie and Fitch Golf Shirts or Mossy Oak Camos.

That's too funny! I bet Walker doesn't know that they started out as a Skinhead band. Their first record is one of my favorite discs ever.
They were never as good after McColgan left & got soft/P.C. IMO. :(

One might say the GOP is having a "Free For All".

Nobody's mentioned the Excrement in Fraudcasting guy's arrangement with his appropriation of "My city was gone", which is permission as long as the royalties go to PETA. Chrissie like's the irony of the arrangement, btw, with them being total polar opposites.

Surprised that Scott Walker did not rip off "Born to be Wild".

donquixote99 06-20-2015 02:15 PM

Did anyone ever make a song about "capitalist running-dog lackeys?" That would be the song for Walker.

The American equivalent of a Capitalist Running Dog may be Koch Lap Dog. :)

The refrain would go something like "fuck you, I've got mine" (repeat until next chorus).

Great movie!

Lot's of great scenes in it.

I think Ann Heche's rant is my favorite.

"Never Alone" ~ Dropkick Murphys

You say it's because we're boisterous
You hate us 'cause we got our dignity
There's a difference between the two of us
It's the sense of morality and what corrupts
We'll stand together proud and strong
Is this is a place where we belong

We got loyal friends
We keep our heads held high,
We'll stick together you and I
Don't need no guns or no drugs on our streets
just a place to go and the boots on our feet.
Never alone...
The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.
Never alone...
The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.

Young skinhead they call you a hooligan
Just because you don't make any sense to them
You're a hard workin' man who who's paid his dues,
But they still call you racist on the evening news
But the blood that runs right down your wrist
Don't come from a knife, but the cuts on your fist

Your torn up knuckles and faded blue jeans
Are the colors you wear and the life that you've seen
You tell the truth look people in the eye
Don't live your life in no baggy disguise.

Never alone...
The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.
Never alone...
The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.

Don't need no gang to watch my ass
Just loyal friendship and a pint of Bass
In the midst of this chaos and insanity
I'm the member of a working class society
We'll sweat in the ring and bleed in the streets
But our will and spirit cannot be beat

You can shoot and you can kick but together we'll stick
Through thick and thin not stick or stone
Can break the bond that has here grown
Arm and Arm We Fight As One.

Never alone...
The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.
Never alone...
The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.
oi! oi! oi!
Never alone...
The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.
Never alone... The city streets are where we roam.
Never alone...
This is Boston it's our home.
