Waco Biker Massacre 9 Dead

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/p...lls-9/?hpid=z1

Rival biker gangs in Texas shoot it out with each other and the cops.

BlueStreak 05-18-2015 12:23 AM

He-man Jackasses. So long as they stick to killing each other, who cares?

Dave

This is what cartoonish 2A gets you.

ebacon 05-18-2015 07:12 AM

"It's a place where you can let your man out."

That is some shopping plaza. Whew.

Twin Peaks says they are where you can 'let your inner man out.' But these guys were letting out their inner testosterone-poisoned beast, and it's pure luck that no bystanders or police were killed. That's why to care about it.

You can't have armed gangs on the street like this. The notion that people's safety and rights are 'protected' by everyone carrying guns is ridiculous.

Ahh. I thought it was a reference to some Texas statute.

Curious how many of these guys consider themselves the good guys with the guns.

Dondilion 05-18-2015 10:07 AM

And I thought we only had violent cartoon characters in the hood.

donquixote99 05-18-2015 10:53 AM

Is there a way to allow 'law-abiding individuals' to carry guns, but prohibit same by multiple members of a 'violent gang organization' at the same place and time?

Curious how many of these guns used were legally purchased? and how many of the the gun carriers had a permit to carry a concealed weapon

bobabode 05-18-2015 11:12 AM

White thugs on dope.

It's Texas, but could have been anywhere these days.

Sean Hannity and Faux News will be doing an in-depth report on 'White Thug Culture' right?

Rajoo 05-18-2015 12:37 PM

I read somewhere that the police knew there was going to be a brouhaha at that restaurant, a recruitment for gang members IIRC. The police requested the restaurant owner to cancel this meet and greet and their request was denied. That's probably why there were cops nearby when the fighting erupted.

Is it Waco or Wacko?

Yes.

There's an advantage to having a well-known venue like this for asshole troublemakers to congregate, they have their own place and everyone else knows not to go there.

Not here. In So. SF and in Walnut Creek they tried "unloaded" open carry demonstrations like going into restaurants. People walked out and 911 was shut down with phone call complaints. :)
Can we kick Texas out yet?

Hmmmm....

Have you guys ever seen the series "Sons of Anarchy"? I binge watched the first two seasons in January and the second two seasons last week. (Don't ask...)

Yesterday the missus I went to a biker bar for the first time. (A local joint that's been there since dirt was invented....) Not your typical bar fer sure.... not a place for pussies, yuppies or sensitive types either.....

Bras stapled to the ceiling, carved up pretty well, a place where you could have a brawl and no one would notice.....

And having known a couple of bikers, I'm pretty convinced the biker stereotype is pretty accurate as depicted. It's a little difficult for someone like me to understand, but I can glimpse it.... Patriotism and attitude (with a pinch of ignorance) on steroids..... and those Biker chicks...... Wow......

Not to the extent of Sons of Anarchy of course...that would be fucking insane.... but something like that.

So anyway when I read this bit of news this morning it somehow didn't surprise me as too unusual.....

Pio1980 05-18-2015 03:17 PM

Never saw SOA, not available to me here except by recordings. I know enuff about the outlaw 1% scene to know it isn't for me regardless of what I'm riding.

This is the 1% MC I'm most familiar with.

Nice guys!

donquixote99 05-18-2015 04:07 PM

What does the '1%' mean in this context?

"Don't blame all motorcycles for the actions of 1% of us."

or

Quote:

The AMA (American Motorcycle Association) stated that 99% of the people at their events were god fearing and family oriented. The other 1%er were hard riding, hard partying, non mainstream type people. Thus the term 1%er was born. Some of the early bikers embraced the term and decided to call themselves 1%ers.

bobabode 05-18-2015 04:35 PM

"All of the people charged with organized crime activity will face a capital murder charge, Swanton said, due to the number of people killed Sunday. Texas state law says that a person who murders more than one other person “during the same criminal transaction” can face this charge, while suspects can be charged with organized criminal activity if they carry out a murder or capital murder as part of a criminal street gang." WaPo

Estimates say 170 bikers arrested.

donquixote99 05-18-2015 04:51 PM

Assuming at most a total of 9 persons who physically murdered someone in this fight, it appears up to 161 will be blamed for the actions of maybe 5% of them....

But I'm just playing with numbers. Actually, I'm fine with the gangsters being charged in this manner.

bobabode 05-18-2015 04:59 PM

I'll bet old Wayne LaPeeAir and his NRA buddies are rubbing their hands with glee at the news. Gun and ammo sales must be skyrocketing after this. :(

donquixote99 05-18-2015 05:16 PM

Sure, between people scared of rampaging biker gangs, and people who always panic-buy when anything happens in case Obama declares martial law or something....

If you choose to live in Waco, what do you expect?

Zeke 05-18-2015 08:45 PM

Branch Davidians?

donquixote99 05-18-2015 09:09 PM

I'll take Branch Davidians every day for a month. They never messed with anybody who didn't go way out of their way to mess with them....

The Branch Dividiots were pretty harmless to everyone but themselves. I still don't understand the grandstanding agency attitude that led to the disastrous unwarranted raid of their compound.

Maybe they should rename it Wackoo.

The Davidians had weapons, kids, and Koresh was an alleged child abuser.

The issue was not going in sooner and poor execution. Those idiots set fire to their OWN building, not the Feds...

This pronunciation predates even you. :)

Pio1980 05-19-2015 10:44 AM

Listening to these guys' being defended by their supporters reminds me of mafiosi protesting that they are businessmen and not gangsters.

That's like saying the issue with Pearl Harbor was a little communications snafu at the Japanese Embassy.
