Now if I had virtually unlimited money, which lets face it, that's what you need to own an old classic because they are essentially a black hole in your driveway that sucks up money, then I would probably go for something in the mid-1950's. Not a Chevy because that makes you like everyone else, but maybe a Black and White 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 convertible.

These days, you can build a late 1960s Mustang, via aftermarket, without starting with a car.

I get that you're starting with provenance here but to actually produce a muscle car clone isn't crazy expensive anymore.

Here's one that is close to what I would want.

I had a 1956 '98 two door hardtop back in 1964-65.

It was in pretty bad shape when I paid $250 bucks for it, and I couldn't afford to fix it right.

But when it was running good it was a really sweet ride.

That 324 Rocket V-8 with the 4 barrel would move that Oldsmobile right along.

It also sucked up hi-test gas like a motherfucker.:(

I got about 11-12 mpg.

Rear tires could get to be a problem too.:)
