Working Is for Poor People

There are some exceptions, but most poor people I've encountered work a helluva lot harder that most rich people. Rich people may spend a lot of time in meetings or luncheons or conferences, but most of what goes on is bullshit, not work.

Quote:

Many believe that poor people deserve to be poor because they’re lazy. As Speaker John Boehner has said, the poor have a notion that “I really don’t have to work. I don’t really want to do this. I think I’d rather just sit around.”

In reality, a large and growing share of the nation’s poor work full time — sometimes sixty or more hours a week – yet still don’t earn enough to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

It’s also commonly believed, especially among Republicans, that the rich deserve their wealth because they work harder than others.

In reality, a large and growing portion of the super-rich have never broken a sweat. Their wealth has been handed to them.

The rise of these two groups — the working poor and non-working rich – is relatively new. Both are challenging the core American assumptions that people are paid what they’re worth, and work is justly rewarded.

Why are these two groups growing?

Like it or not, working with your brain always pays more than using your back. It has always been thus.

I think the point is that a significant portion of the "1%" do neither.

You might be right, Finn, but I know quite a few rich people whose brains don't work all that much 😉

Then there are those who think too much and have the money and connections to make truly colossal messes.................

One thing that Tom and little Robby Reich have in common - both appear to be hybrid vehicles fueled by class envy.

The difference between Tom and little Robby Reich is that Reich has parlayed his class envy shtick into $4 Million in net worth. Good for Reich, but Tom apparently has more hard work do to....or is that less work to do. I'm confused.

You really are a nasty little fuck. Is this what your religion teaches you?

bobabode 04-05-2015 11:16 AM

Beat me to it John.

Your religion (whatever that may be) apparently teaches class envy, intolerance of those whose beliefs are different that yours, and you spew vulgarity at those who disagree with your politics. I think I'm actually coming down to your level when I post here, John. :p

Happy Easter, whell.

I guess you figure that your Savior died for your sins in perpetuity.

He died for them in advance, even. Whell's got a free ride. Very nifty religion, Christianity.

Happy Easter to you too. Christ died for all our sins so there's still hope for the angry and the bitter like you and Don. :p

He's doing his best to extend loving kindness, in the hope of encouraging us to see the light. He yearns to do us good and save our immortal souls.

His chosen method is backhanded insults.

Work?

I'm retired Dude.

I haven't done a lick of work for money since October of 2007, and I don't intend to ever again as long as I live.

I have achieved self actualization.:)
