47 Republican Senators Have Just Committed Treason

Bibi and Dermer's next move.

As far as I'm concerned, the entire Republican caucus of both houses should be impeached for treason and for violating the Logan Act. (I know, "dream on".)

I saw that. I guess Bibi's shameless pep talk inspired them to greater heights. And these clowns complain that Obama won't work with them.

I really think this is Dermer working behind the scenes. It has all the earmarks of an American right wing operative (which is what Dermer still is despite his change of citizenship).

The letter was organized by Tom Cotton, a Tea Party freshman from Arkansas. Perfect pawn for someone like Dermer to manipulate.

Obama should throw that bum out of the country. That should get the GOP's attention.

I disagree.

They should be tried, convicted, and executed for treason.

I am at a loss for words when our Congress tries to do the bidding of a foreign elected official rather than follow the laws of our country and respect and follow the authority of our POTUS. They have become as anti the Constitution of the USA as the Supreme Court is.

Are the self-appointed Constitutional Law experts in the Tea Party up in arms about this violation?

NIxon got away with going to China because he was so anti-Communist; turns out his skin color may have been a factor also.

This level of public disrespect for the President, and willingness starkly repudiate his leadership directly to a foreign power when negotiations of vital issues are ongoing, is a stunning, unprecedented split in our polity. The only thing to compare to it is the secession of the slave states. And the psychology behind it is in many ways similar.

I hesitate to use the T-word, is is so overused. But this is pretty damn close to the spirit of the thing.

Sadly, not true. It's a well established tradition with Republicans.

All that's missing from this outburst is a little fanatical Islamist "Israel has no right to exists" blubbering from the assembled lefty multitude...and we'll have come full circle.

Thank you for your well thought out reaction to what the Senate Republicans have done. Your input is always appreciated here.

Crap. I was naive. I hate it when that happens.

finnbow 03-09-2015 02:17 PM

I think that in some way this derives from Republicans somehow seeing themselves as the "real Americans." Whatever they do is OK because they love America and whatever Obama does is wrong because he hates America. Rudy told me so.

If you are going to put words in the mouth of a supposed left wing conspiracy, at least give the left credit for proper grammar. Although I don't agree with the statement, it would be: "Israel has no right to exist," or perhaps: "Israel exists illegitimately."

And when did the correlation between being a leftist and being an Islamist arise? The actions taken by and propaganda spouted by proponents of radical Islam are fully to the contrary to the ideals of pluralism and democracy held close by all leftists I know.

D-Ray

Treason or not, Nixon's ploy to get elected did fill 30,000 US soldier body bags given that HHH would have put an end to it. :(

D-Ray joins Countryford's pissant typo-cop club.

Pluralism seems to work fine among lefty's as long as all their fellow lefty's are enemies of the state of Israel. It's really a riot that you mention democracy in the same paragraph...since the only democracy you're ever going to see in the middle east is the one you despise.

Why do you assume that anyone who is not waving the Israeli flag despises Israel? That is just as asinine a comment as assuming that anyone who would dain to criticize any actions by Israel is an Islamist, or that anyone who would criticize the U.S. government is a communist.

The fact that you people despise supporters of the State of Israel says it all to me. The only person on this forum who's had the balls to say otherwise is TJ. So don't presume to lecture me about it. If you can say the same thing to me that TJ has said, that he feels I have a blind spot but it's not a problem for him then we're good. If you won't, or can't...take a fucking hike.

Are you talking about John Boehner? My disdain for him has to do with many things other than his support of Isreal. The same goes for most of the politicians that the GOP has foisted on the country. I have developed a strong distaste for your treatment of other posters, but again that has to do with your inability to converse civilly with those who disagree with you rather than your strong support of Israel.

Quote:

we petition the obama administration to:
File charges against the 47 U.S. Senators in violation of The Logan Act in attempting to undermine a nuclear agreement.

On March 9th, 2015, forty-seven United States Senators committed a treasonous offense when they decided to violate the Logan Act, a 1799 law which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.

At a time when the United States government is attempting to reach a potential nuclear agreement with the Iranian government, 47 Senators saw fit to instead issue a condescending letter to the Iranian government stating that any agreement brokered by our President would not be upheld once the president leaves office.

This is a clear violation of federal law. In attempting to undermine our own nation, these 47 senators have committed treason.

My comment was not about what Senate Republicans did, numbnuts. It's about the attitude of so many of the members in this joint. You can't be that dense...or maybe you can...maybe it's just a little taste of Boreas acting deliberately obtuse, just for the fun of it.

Nah. The trend inside the Beltway - particularly in the WH - is to ignore the plain language of the law.

But I'll defer to you you guys. In fact, under your interpretation of the rules, I guess we'd get to impeach Pelosi twice, since her junket to Syria in 2007 was against the express wishes of the Administration at that time.

Even that lefty rag, the Wall Street Journal, thinks this stunt by Sen. 'Dumber Than a Box of Rocks' Cotton is counterproductive.

That is all it is from a bunch of impotent jerks. Surprised that McCain joined in but he is now a 'has been' vying for attention.

The employer shared responsibility provisions of PPACA come to mind. They were supposed to take effect for all plan years starting 12/31/13 or after - the date specified in the text of the law. While this may have actually made sense - it would make more sense to kick the entirely of PPACA to the curb - but changing the law requires actual legislation.

The petition needed 100,000 signatures by April 8th. It already has 102,391.

Make that 102,469.

No, it's 102,615.

It's adding 100 to 200 signatures per minute.

102,720
