Next time one of you Righties wants to trash Obama for the debt or for job losses, maybe you could refresh your memory by taking a gander at these.

Look at the numbers guys.

merrylander 02-09-2010 03:09 PM

But they have made up their minds, don't confuse them with facts.

Where did you get these graphics?

I got them both from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. They got the jobs chart from the Dept. of Labor. The source for the foreign debt pie chart I don't know yet.

I've seen some charts which were different, most likely sourced from some VRWC site.

Personally, I don't believe anybody anymore.

See Chas, you conservatives spend all of your time trying to find what's wrong, without ever trying to find what's right. I suppose that's the nature of politics, huh?

BlueStreak 02-10-2010 01:54 AM

I believe what I see going on around me. I believe my best friend, who is a real estate agent is selling more houses the last few months. I believe an old friend of mine who is a steelworker, back home in Ohio, is going back to work, along with 1,000 fellow employees, come monday---after a sixteen month layoff. I believe our volume at work has picked up a bit lately, and I've even been getting some O.T.. I believe the unemployment rate dropped slightly recently. I believe my Sis, just got her $8,000 "First time homeowner" rebate, and used it to buy appliances and new furniture for her new house.

None of these thing are really earthshaking, true. But they are all positive. Been a while since anything positive has happened, hasn't it?

And I also believe I see Republicans so desperate for leadership that they're lining up behind this dipshit that needs to scribble crib notes on her palms to remind herself of what her basic priorities are.

But, she does have a nice ass. I'll give her that.

Regards,
Dave

The DOL has all sorts of interesting data concerning economic conditions. I found one interesting data chart here, showing that the productivity of the American workforce took huge leaps in the second and third quarters of 2009. It looks to me like employers are putting more and more on existing employees rather than hiring additional workers to fulfill needs. This could be an indicator that there will be a point in the near future where there will be breakthrough in job creation. There's always room for hope.

Regards,

D-Ray

merrylander 02-10-2010 07:02 AM

That backs up what I wrote earlier about employers not hiring until after the elections.

piece-itpete 02-10-2010 07:40 AM

I thought that, during the campaign, it was the start of the next Great Depression? :p

Ah, that was before the Great & Mighty Obama came in. The moment he took office the recession was over!! Wow whatta guy.

The amazing thing isn't that we had a recession. (OMG! The economy cycles?? Who knew). It's that it didn't happen after 9-11. I believe we did some things to keep our enemies from the satisfaction and we're paying for it now. I consider it worth it.

Care to post a chart about our foriegn debt including Obamas administration?

Pete

I heard this and it is a good sign. As DRay states, this number is at first indicative of doing more with fewer employees. However, if that "more" persists, they eventually hire new employees. However, the employers will need to have some confidence that the economic turnaround is actually upon us before doing so.

Near as I recall it was the Bush administration that started the bailout, it was continued under the Obama administration.

9/11 need not have happened had the big shots in the FBI listened to the field operatives.

Had we had a good general (Omar Bradley come back) we would have gotten bin Laden at Tora Bora, but no Franks thought his TV remote would do the job from Florida.

Maybe if you put more sugar in the Kool Aid things would look brighter.

I thought of that when I read those numbers. I'm not a statistician, but the disparity between the last couple of numbers and the rest of the row tends to show that they would not occur solely on the basis of chance.

Come on Pete. This wasn't a run of the mill recession. I know you well enough after talking on here. You know that. This was the worst recession, well, ever. To write it off as "the ups and downs of the economy" is misleading. It's like saying "what's the big deal about 9/11? Americans have been killed by terrorists before."

This is absolutely correct.

If the GOP regains sufficient seats in November, scarcely a day will pass before Republicans declare, "Happy Days are Here again!", the hiring signs will go out, and the wingnuts will go shopping. But, all of the underlying problems will still be there and continue to fester unabated. Unpaid debt, growing income disparity, worsening foreign relations, escalating healthcare costs, etc.,etc.

In a few years we will be going through it all again. If you elect that nitwit from Alaska in 2012---even sooner than that.

Regards,
Dave

merrylander 02-10-2010 12:08 PM

Elect that Alaskan trailer trash and we are out of here.

BlueStreak 02-10-2010 12:34 PM

I would be sad to see you go, Rob.
I'll stay and continue to fight.
That's just how I am.
My country is worth it, to me.

Dave

merrylander 02-10-2010 12:50 PM

I also feel of it as my country but I also love the one that gave me birth. Electing that ditzy broad would be a solid indication the America had lost its collective mind, I am too damn old to spend my sunset years fighting ignorance. I would just like some peace and quiet.

FOX, MSNBC, etc. does no one ever use the wet stuff between their ears anymore? Damn it I do not need anyone to tell me what I think, I can do it all myself thank you.

That's the spirit!

I'm gonna stay here and fight too!

Of course, one crummy vote ain't much of a fight.

Hey, don't forget that money is speech too.

Now Chas, you know that you have a persuasive way about you. When you put your mind to it, you could influence some people - especially if I couldn't come around your parts to provide an antidote. Actually, get out of the two major metropolitan areas in Mizzou, and not much of what I have to say is likely to find many sympathetic ears.

Exactly, and now we will see Novartis, AstraZenica, GlaxoSmithKlein and Bayer "speaching" all over the damn place.

I pop off when I think it will advance my position. I'll never give 'em a dime again, talk about feeding a stray dog!!!!

You could come around here and make your case, as long as you weren't a prima donna. Most of my friends are libs, and they tolerate me, most of the time.

BTW, if you're ever down in this neck of the woods, you should check this place out. If you Google it, you can find a lot of interesting information. Haven't been there since I was a kid, and it was abandoned, but it must be too kool for school.

The Bothwell Mansion, north of Sedalia, is also a must see.

Peckerwood country.

Those are both impressive looking structures. I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would be like to live in that kind of wealth.

I've spent a little time in Sedalia with a couple of unions. Usually pass through when I have to go to Jeff City.

By the way Chas, it sounds like you surround yourself with some intelligent people. Somehow, I get the impression that you would survive if they ganged up on you.

D-Ray

That makes two of us. I'd probably live in the summer kitchen where I was more comfortable.

Actually, I hang out with my old drinking buddies. I used to be a lib, before I went over to the dark side. I also know some pretty sharp conservatives, but they're not my old drinking buddies.

I like a well worn shoe.

Chas

Just getting a little tuned up tonite, listening to my new to me hopped up TU-717, and hoping I can sleep.

I've got tomorrow by the balls, as far as I know. Weekend is scheduled for taxes...corporates come due 3/15. No more money than I've made for the last few years, it isn't worth it. I can't even afford a mouthpiece to keep them from piercing my corporate veil, should it ever come to that.

And my customers are still stiffing me for 6 grand from last year. Bastards.

Must be 'Sui day today. I've been playing with a 4000 I just picked up.

Every day is a 'sui day for me. I have a 5000x running my main rig. It's more than enough power to run my AR-93s, and pleasing to my ears.

Actually, I usually put on a CD every night when I go to bed, and it runs through a Sansui R-5.

D-Ray
