Obamas on Race: We've Been Treated Like the Help
I'm glad to see them speaking up on this.
I can only image the howling from the right about this. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/obama...ry?id=27636612 Quote:

I was wondering when he was going to get honest about the whole thing.
|
I have had the same thing happen to me as well as being asked to help get something off a shelf.
Of course, if you are black it is racism |

“There’s no black male my age, who’s a professional, who hasn’t come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn’t hand them their car keys," he said, according to excerpts of the interview released today. Not someone asking for casual help which happens for all of us. I remember helping an older lady with her bags at O'hare airport a few years back and she insisted on tipping me even after I said, "I am well off and don't need your money, give it to charity". |

In this thread, ZJ offers a BS apples-to-oranges false equivalency. Why? To try to say that Obama is wrongfully complaining of racial stereotyping. Why.....? |

But, somebody thinking you might be a valet , or somebody asking a tall lady to help them get something. Give me a break. They are about as far as you can get from real profiling. |

That's nice because you two have so much in common these days. |

Although I will say that there seems to be an overabundance of white male conservatives that seem to think they are experts on being black. |

In fact I would appreciate it if you would advertise that fact every chance you get. |

How's that. |

This fascination with money here in America is possibly why the TV show Downton Abbey is so popular. It was a period in England when 1% had all the money and treated the other 99% like dirt. Personally I really stopped watching it long ago despite the fact that the acting is very good.
Howevr since there is no more Chat in Political Chat I guess it is time to pursue more adult pastimes. |

It's a case of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend,' seems to me. Finn has a real case for about two people here, and they're both in this thread.

I just spent all morning goofing off with a couple of black guys. Yeah, I know nothing about it. |
Anyone with half-assed social skills and not too disordered a personality can get along with their workmates. Doesn't mean a thing.
And you're still being anecdotal, of course.... :) |

And, anecdotal pretty much covers anything that does not fit your preconceptions of the way things are. Actually they are not always the way you think they are. Not even close. |

The ghetto blacks are a product of what you got when blacks left the South thinking that somehow the wonderful Yankees were going to give them fortune. And, the liberals "helped" them for a few generations. You made them, you can keep them. |
Quote:
That is not the meaning of anecdotal as I used it..... Not always, true enough. Will you admit the last sentence applies to you, too? |

I'll admit an aversion to pompous asses, regardless of claims of political conversion.

No Zero, you don't get it. I work with four of these ghetto blacks every day, all day long. They have no aversion to work, and they close to live cheap so they can afford other things. They don't like white folks who pimp them because of where they live.
|
I see we're comparing race credentials this evening.
So, tell me; Who here, other than myself, has bopped a black chick or two......or three.......or maybe have a few mulatto kids runnin' around out there? Yeah, I know that's getting pretty personal. But I figured while we're at it, what the hell, why not go there? Dave |
Quote:
Because it is not flattering on you, on several levels. That you see your conquest of women of color as a distinct accomplishment is possibly a bit racist in itself. If you "maybe" have kids out in the world, you "maybe" are costing those of us who lived our lives more responsibly. |

No issues, there. |

Conquest? How old are you man? |
