Polar vortex

coming back to the north. Cold next week here and many other places!

Time to lay in supplies and get the vehicles ready. Under no circumstances do you ever, ever want to run out of beer.

I'm heading for New Orleans, Lafayette, Austin and the Hill Country next Wednesday for 10 days of food and music. Hopefully, the cold weather won't get all the way down there.

BlueStreak 11-06-2014 12:23 PM

We have plenty of provisions to last a few days, anyhow. I got the generator squared away a couple months ago. (Rebuilt the carburetor and cleaned all electrical connections/contacts.) So, we good.

I've thought about a generator, that's a nice thing to have. Do you enjoy those kind of projects or just do them because they need done?

Finn that's great. I had a LA craft beer last spring that was mailed to me, I don't remember the name exactly but it had 2 numbers, like 34 or 43 or something.

The only Louisiana craft brew I know is Abita. It's available at virtually all bars and restaurants in New Orleans.

Dave

piece-itpete 11-06-2014 02:50 PM

The forecast low for here tomorrow morning is 45 and the high is expected to be 67. That's just about perfect to me.

piece-itpete 11-10-2014 10:58 AM

A Fredrick Douglas Avatar?

Seriously?

If you had lived back in his day you would have been Simon Legree.

47 yesterday and already up to 43 this morning at 9am.
I loves me some polar vortex. Looking to be another very mild winter for us.:D

I will admit the polar bears flying through the air is a bit scary.

Tom Joad 11-13-2014 04:37 PM

It's been in the 40's all day today and the forecast low for tomorrow morning is 30.

That's a bit on the nippy side for the middle of November in this area.

Guess all the Global Warming denialists will be struttin their stuff what with last weeks election win and now this.

:D

It's too damed cold out and has been all week. I used to tolerate cold better than this....Grrrrr. Mid 20's all day and low teens at night.

We have snow coming tomorrow so yesterday was a leaf clearing marathon.

Tom Joad 11-14-2014 11:04 AM

There was a thin layer of ice over our bird bath water this morning.

Must have gotten down to about 30.

The high is forecasted to be 52 today.

bobabode 11-14-2014 11:34 AM

High 69 Low 52 and cloudy with 0 chance of rain

We had a 1/4 inch of rain a week ago, that's it this winter.

I've emptied my bird baths to prevent freeze damage to them. The squirrel water dish is frozen solid though. I wait until I see a squirrel at it and go put warm water in it. It waits until I leave and them drinks up. It's been dry as hell her and with this hard freeze it's even drier.
