You have friends? Who knew...http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/ima...ilies/blah.gif

bobabode 10-29-2014 02:14 PM

If you republican'ts take the senate, what are you going to piss and moan about for the next two years Pete?

A whupping implies a 60 seat majority. That ain't gonna happen. no way, no how. You can take that to the bank. :)

piece-itpete 10-29-2014 02:22 PM

TJ LOL! But it'll be more like https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=qRlGFXl_e1E

Nuttin' personal ol' bean. The 'Suicide' wing of the GOP aided and abetted by the Groverites who've taken over the party is one of biggest political tragedies of our time. There's no way, no how that they will accomplish any cooperation with the Dems to move the country forward. Gridlock is their only goal while the country's infrastructure crumbles. If that's all the once progressive GOP stands for? They'll be beat like a rented mule in the '16 election when the 'pubbies will be facing a much larger structural disadvantage than the Democrats are facing next week.

Addendum: The GOP will have Sen.Harry Reid bedeviling them McConnell style for the next two years. <grin> Enjoy!

History shows that some of the most important advances in our country have occurred with the President and Congress (both houses) split between parties. If they get both houses, the GOP will be forced to show that they can actually govern. Otherwise, 2016 will be brutal for them (it may anyway because far more GOP Senate seats than Dem seats are in play in 2016).

It will be interesting to see the (relatively) moderate Republicans (McConnell, Boehner) who know this fighting against the 'Bagger faction who have made disagreeing with Obama an article of faith. This election could prove to be a Pyrrhic victory for the GOP if they don't get their governance shit together.

As long as they don't take the country down with them.

bobabode 10-29-2014 03:19 PM

The 'Monkey Wrench' faction in the House will be going full tilt boogie for the next two years and their poison pill bills will languish in that old 'tea cooling saucer' in the Senate only to die a miserable and lonely death at the end of the legislative session, old Harry will see to that.

Wailing and impotent gnashing of teeth will ensue from the 'baggers while Cruz grins like a egg faced possum in the back of the henhouse.

Most if not all of that 'red meat' nonsense will never see the President's desk for a veto.

piece-itpete 10-29-2014 03:24 PM

It'll be the intransient Dems not helping, if turnabout is indeed fair play ;)

And Obama will have to actually make public decisions, veto or not veto. This could hurt (or help) Hillary as well.

It'll will indeed be funny and ironic hearing McConnell whining about Dem filibusters.

One thing's for sure, 'Turtle' McConnell won't go nuclear on the legislative filibuster knowing the shoe will be on the other foot someday (soon ;)).

Naw, Pete. Most polls show that people are paying attention these days. The 'pubbie brand is severely tarnished by all the chicanery and political dirty tricks employed by the House Full o' Nutz and McConnell in the Senate, imho.

Really man, don't take this midterm as a heaven sent mandate. It's not a whuppin' by any stretch of the imagination. What is really surprising is how close the Dems are making so many of these Senate races.

I'm liking some of these governor's races personally. ;) :)

finnbow 10-29-2014 03:51 PM

In 2016, there will be 24 Republican and 10 Democratic seats in play. If there is a large Dem turnout in the Presidential election (and accompanying "coattails"), the GOP could get their ass handed to them in the Senate.

piece-itpete 10-29-2014 03:58 PM

I see lemonade being made :D

You've piqued my curiosity and would appreciate the sharing a few examples. Truly.

bobabode 10-29-2014 04:04 PM

LBJ and the Voting Rights Act comes to mind despite the rulings from presently righty SCOTUS. Some serious arm twisting and horse trading went on there.

edit- Ooops, Dem majorities in both houses. Still, the filibuster threat was neutralized by some serious arm twisting.

Thanks for the PM Nailer. I was only 8 years old at the time.

This may just curb the urge to perceived bad behaviour.

bobabode 10-29-2014 04:08 PM

Cruz will be driving the GOP Klown Kar and he's a media slut.

I see shut downs from 'Chock Full O' Nutz' House at his urging.

EPA and OSHA were passed by Nixon and a Democratic Congress. Welfare reform and a balanced budget resulted from Clinton and a GOP Congress.

Stocks also do better under a divided government.

http://www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/...blican-victory

I think that it boils down to us doing less stupid, one-sided partisan shit under a divided government.

OTOH, the complete and utter idiocy/nihilism of the Teabaggers may challenge these findings.

Anyone else watching TV the night Fred Thompson said in 08 that if Obama won the election then it would take a decade to clear up the mess after he's gone?

Now, Bob, I'm just repeating what the man said.. not saying I'll be pissin' & moanin' two years from now. Well unless the 'ol lady cuts me off 'er somethin'.. then I may be on the rag. :D

Pete

Everyone expects you to take over the Senate.

So if you do, it's a big Ho-Hum.

What you need to worry about is if by some miracle, the Dems hold on to it.

That would be a huge upset win for us and we will rub your noses in it big time. :)

bobabode 10-30-2014 03:54 PM

I'm still hopeful that it'll be a 50-50 split (evil grin).
Then the Party of Stoopid will have to put up with the Joe Biden rubbing their noses in it. :)

You're talking about the uber rich Dems? ;)

Bob, I think you're right that it won't be a huge landslide type thing. I just don't feel it if you know what I mean.

I want 1000-1 odds.

Right. Now they have to prove that what they have to offer is actually worth something. Like they did with majorities in house senate, and the fool-in-chief behind the oval office desk in 2000 - '06.

How'd that work out?

Pete

If you think the people that run the GOP are going to let you into their private club by anything other than the service entrance you are dumber than you look. You will be just another one of the plunderees.

So bend over and spread your cheeks.

piece-itpete 11-05-2014 10:37 AM

How do you know how I look TJ? ;)

You're taking this well. I thought there'd be more gloom and despair here overall.

Pete

Zeke 11-05-2014 10:53 AM

Why?

1. It's a known pattern.
2. Will spotlight Republican fissures.
3. Clears a path for Hillary.
4. Ensures a swing back under her leadership.

Tactical fail, strategic win.
