A gun for every hip.

Great, another NRA doofus move to ensure we live in a public place shooting gallery.

Indeed. Open and concealed carry only puts innocents in the cross hairs imo.

Hell, just look at the cop killers from Cliven Bundy's Academy of Uncivil Disobedience. Once they cowardly dusted two cops they ran into Walmart across the street and killed a customer who was strapped. So much for the lunatic ravings of Wayne La PeeAir that a good guy with a gun means diddley. All it means is you'll be executed first by the bad guys.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials say a Utah elementary school teacher who was carrying a concealed firearm at school accidentally shot herself in the leg when the weapon discharged in a faculty bathroom.

Granite School District spokesman Ben Horsley says the gun went off shortly before class started Thursday at Westbrook Elementary School, in the Salt Lake City suburb of Taylorsville. He says the teacher was severely injured when the bullet entered and exited her leg, and she was rushed to the hospital.

Missouri is on a roll. They also recently passed law that you must think about it for 3 days before murdering your unborn child.

Nice turn of phrase there, it's a fetus until birth.
See anything about a dude that brutally murdered his five living children recently? Life sux for unwanted uncherished kids in real life, work on that and keep yourself out of other folks' difficult personal medical decision making.

Har-de-har-har-har Jim. That was his day job, impersonating cartoon characters on the Vegas Strip while his murderous wife took pics for the touristas while strong arming them for money. Everyone knows who and what these two sick MFers were, Tea Party inspired militia losers.

Here's your boy at the ranch Jim.

Nice of you to make light of two cop killing murderers fresh off the Bundy ranch in Bunkerville, Nev. who spread your cherished Gadsden flag over two cops bleeding out bodies in a pizza joint after they ambushed them while screechin' insane shit about starting a revolution.

You're being a little assholish here, doncha think?

Dude, you need to calm down and think before you type. That's the biggest steaming pile of bullet points I've seen in a while around here. You haven't immigrated down to Arizona or Texas have you?

And an egg is an unborn chicken. just word games to manipulate terminology.

You really have to have the waiting period burden explained?
I'm guessing you're not a pregnant woman who can't take 3 days off work to travel to a clinic that can take her and wait around for no good medically prudent reason for 3 days missed work.

Technically, so did we all, and it's a miracle that it usually all goes right and we end up coming out pretty much all there and functioning fine.
I'm not comfortable with the idea of terminating a pregnancy for trivial or economic reasons, but that's not a decision I would deem to force myself on others, nor condemn an infant to an unloving, uncaring, abusive existence. There are worse things to happen to an infant than an abortion and those are truly heartwrenching occurances.

Mine began when I was born with original sin. For that to occur, I have to be born: to actually enter this world. Prior to that I am something, just not fully human. You're not that until you physically become part of this existence.

Whether or not the unborn possess souls is outside my privy but if you're not born, you're not like the rest of us. I don't know what that makes those who never enter this world but I know there is a before and after. By definition, that means the two states of being are not the same.

You're not alive until you're alive. You're not alive until you physically enter this world. That doesn't happen when cells join, it happens when you breathe on your own.

It's not a technicality, nor is it a miracle. A fetus is as much a human as you or me.

Deciding legal status of a fetus is an interesting excersize insofar as whether a fetus is a legal person or the property of its host to its best protected advantage, which also examines prenatal parental rights and responsibilities.

True dat.

I've put considerable thought into this issue and there are just no easy answers that will assure protection of an infant or child.

I remember when getting a CCWP was strictly on a real need basis and the only open carry was either hunters with long guns or the occasional hiker strapped for protection against mountain lions and bear.

This NRA sponsored fear campaign is a clear and present danger of my goddamn right to life, liberty and my pursuit of happiness to not catch a bullet minding my own damn business. That's how I feel about this bullshit he man nonsense of the citizenry running around armed at Wallyworld or the local 7-11.

Give that man a cigar.

If men could carry a fetus, the right to abortion on demand would be enshrined in the constitution.

How can anyone think that seeing someone with a pistol strapped to their hip isn't intimidating to others? Seriously.

The NRA is all about the gun industry making money. I remember when they were about gun safety.

I got philosophical last night. Sorry.

As for guns, I get that many people interpret the 2A differently, from arming teenagers with whatever can be obtained to strictly limiting access to potato guns using aerosol as spud propellant.

All I know is that if your rationalization is that an armed citizenry protects us from the government or invasion? Your argument hasn't been valid for many, many years.

It indeed gets down to reproduction being different for women and men. For men, it can easily be 'fire and forget.' Women have a lot fewer 'shots,' and each one is at least a 9-month commitment, if not 20 years, with the 9 months entailing considerable physical duress, trauma, and risk. Against these facts we must balance religion and ideology, and the rights they urge us to grant to unborn and undeveloped potential people. I think the balance comes down to the woman getting some options. Still, from point of reliable viability on, restrict unless compelling cause can be shown.

Wasillaguy 09-13-2014 10:36 AM

Think of fetuses as Guatemalan children, and their birth like crossing the border.
See, now you don't want to turn those poor innocent children away, do you?
We are a rich country, we are obligated to help them. What would Jesus do?

Doesn't the same metaphor make you rave in support of abortion?

Except metaphors prove nothing.
