Clear Channel Radio Thinks 'The Daily Caller' is News!

Was looking to see when Stevie Zann's Underground Garage was scheduled, and I was surprised to find the following on the local rock station's web site. It's labeled "news," but it's obviously a smear on Hillary Clinton:

For Hillary Clinton, Nothing Less Than A Gulfstream G450 Will Do

Posted Sunday, August 17th 2014 @ 2pm by Chuck Ross, The Daily Caller

Wherever Hillary Clinton is going, she needs at least a Gulfstream G450 to get there.

The once nearly “dead broke” former First Lady now makes steep demands when she gives speeches to corporations, groups and universities, according to emails between Clinton’s agent and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where Clinton will earn $225,000 for a 90-minute speech in October.

...

Clinton has come under fire for pocketing those huge fees and living a luxurious lifestyle while also downplaying her and husband Bill’s enormous wealth. Besides telling ABC’s Diane Sawyer that she and Bill were nearly “dead broke” after leaving the White House in 2001, Clinton said that the couple are unlike the “truly well off.”

The teaser for this is about half-way down WTUE's home page, after some promo stuff and bikini pictures. This RW propaganda hit piece, openly sourced to the Daily Caller, is actually labeled 'National News.'

I blame Clear Channel corporate, and their major shareholder, Mitt Romney's former corporate home, Bain Capital.

Is Clear Channel part of the Kochtopus cabal?

Care to expand "smear".

Uses loaded phrases and negative adjectives to, basically, call Hillary Clinton names.

Consider these phrases: "dead broke," "steep demands," "come under fire," "luxurious lifestyle," "enormous wealth." The whole thing is a character attack, accusing Hillary Cliinton of being a richie who demands lavish perks after poor mouthing her finances at an earlier time.

You may buy this, or not. The point is all those adjectives are opinion, masquerading as objective news. So the thing is propaganda inserted into an unexpected venue, the website of a rock station that doesn't even run any on-air news segments (or even "news" segments).

Who knows, ultimately. The on-record owners are two private equity firms, Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee partners. But private equity firms don't have to disclose their investors.

I think any righteous righty would call the Caller objective.

Hilary's book tour did a big smear campaign number on her. She fell hard in the polls on her own accord and mouth and down about 9 points.

I would consider this a smear campaign since it is a criticism couched as news on a website of a rock radio station. I see this as a hidden agenda.

If you plan to vote for Hillary, suggest you boycott Clear Channel. :D

It is an anti Hillarity campaign, but whether it is smear in the political sense/connotation depends on falsity.

BlueStreak 08-18-2014 07:28 AM

Clear Channel has been buying up such stations and filling them with sycophant disc jocks. This has happened to the local major rock station, WNOR 98.7. The morning talk is loaded full of anti-Democratic wisecracks and innuendo.

Except opinion is not testable for truth/falsity. How steep is steep? How enormous is enormous? I call it a smear because it hits Hillary with negative opinion under color of 'news.'

Last night I had an interesting conversation with our automation programmer;

Me; "On this infeed we need to have a low speed start here for the prime, then a ramp to high speed photo eye right about here."

Him; "Actually, what I'm gonna do is have a high speed here and a high-high speed there."

I thought the college educated were supposed to be smart?

Don't listen to morning wise-ass shows. Maybe I'll sample WTUE's to see if they've gone that route....

After it's installed and seen to work poorly, you'll have to do some 'maintenance' on the 'malfunctioning' equipment.

You might view it as 'correcting setup parameters,' but that's a matter of opinion. :)

Bullshit...it doesn't have to be false to be a smear. It can be perfectly true and simply sopping with innuendo and cynicism (see below).

The political sense usually implies falsity.

Clear channel owns 30% of the US radio market so it would be hard to avoid them. They also own something like 700 electronic billboards.

They have some pretty heavy handed influence.

But that's what capitalism and our political system is all about. Making sure folks believe the reality you want them to believe and owning the real estate to back up that reality.

Akin to our local broadcast news. Three of the four local stations are all owned by the same big broadcasting conglomerate and in fact show the exact same news broadcast. Even our local paper is owned by some RW outfit in Georgia, and they go wayyyy out of their way to silence any left wing opinions.

Bottom line is you can't believe anything you read see or hear as it's all propaganda meant to deceive.
