Yeah, it sounds good to me too. I think that I need to go try to find and read the legislation that he has endorsed.

Only a greedy person would vote against this.

You see how much the Koch brothers are running the show. It was not till the government shutdown began to make it look like the debt ceiling would not be renewed that they called off their lapdog Cruz and ended the whole mess....they did not want the downturn in credit to negatively effect their stocks. Tonights nativist vote in the House is just slop for the bagger fringe to keep their eyes off of the real threat, which is certainly not a bunch of kids from Latin America.

I think you said it best.

When rich lawyers are the ones creating the law...the tax code we have is what you get.

BlueStreak 08-03-2014 08:13 AM

Just remove the cap altogether and stop worrying about it. Only have a cap on who can draw from it. Everyone pays, no one over $250k/year can draw back out.

The rich don't like it? Tough shit. No, I couldn't care less if anyone thinks that's unfair. Life isn't fair. The spoiled brats can just grow the fuck up.

The second part of that wouldn't be necessary.

What a lot of people don't know is that the formula for calculating your benefit is very progressive and favors low income people. That's why the Republicans hate it. Low income people already get a much better deal out of Social Security than the more affluent. I would remove the cap, and just tweak the formula a little to make it even more progressive. There is already a maximum that one person can draw. It's $2642 a month. I'd leave that there. So even if you've paid in a billion bucks over your lifetime, you'll only get $2642 a month. That will make it so the rich can't say they don't get anything from it. They can use that $2642 to pay their manicurist.

And one more thing.

Why is it that only wags and salaries are taxed?

Why not apply it to all income?

Fuck these hedge fund managers.

Thanks for clearing that up. Only the bloodsuckers shouldn't even get the $2642. They shouldn't get jack shit, but a bill.

As long as there are at least 41 Republicans in the Senate, this will never get to the point of being voted on. Even 60 Dems in the Senate wouldn't be enough to get retrogressive legislation like this through. We saw that with the ACA.

I'd say it would take 70 Dems in the Senate and 300 in the house to get a bill like this to the Presidents desk.

I agree, but means testing is just a way to erode popular support.

If we start to means test Social Security it will become a target like Medicaid and food stamps. Name me one program that is means tested that doesn't end up sucking hind tit.
