Tea Party Comeuppance

http://www.cleveland.com/open/index....k_steve_l.html

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Governm...Tuesday-Losses

Some of you may recall my assertion that the Tea Party was a tool that would outlive it's purpose and get betrayed by it's host, the GOP, several years ago.

Well, here we are.:p

Republicans. They eat their own.

Dave

The establishment and the tea party never got along.

Maybe now they'll go back to calling themselves libertarians and go forth into the fringe wilderness muttering their conspiracy theories and let the adults in the room govern?

Gotta call BS on this one. They feckin' created the Tea Party and are now only reversing course because they realize that 'Baggers can't help them win elections (outside of loony places like Texas).

Dick Armey, Tom Tancredo............................

Perhaps the Tea Party already existed in some form and to a tiny degree on the fringe, but they didn't move into the mainstream until the GOP began helping them with funding, political support, air time and GOP'ers like Palin making speeches at rallies, etc., etc......

Come on, now. We were all around at that time and watched what went on. Without support from mainstream right wing media outlets like Fox and EIB and the various Republican political organizations the TP never would have left the basement.

And now that they have overstayed their welcome and become an embarrassment to their host, they are being shown to the door.

Puppets, tools, stooges.....whatever you want to call it, they have been had and it's just the ugly truth.

Ferfuksake, figure it out, already.

Who paid for those giant and wholly contrived rallies in DC? That cost way more than any goof in a tri-cornered hat from Podunk could ever raise. It cost millions. Probably tens of millions, maybe hundreds, who knows?

piece-itpete 06-25-2014 01:02 PM

Didn't those stooges just take out Cantor?

Pete

BlueStreak 06-25-2014 01:07 PM

Who cares? In fact, that may work against them in the general election, when "Gods appointee" runs against the Democrat.

piece-itpete 06-25-2014 01:11 PM

Gods appointee vs satans :D

Pete

BlueStreak 06-25-2014 01:18 PM

"Palin warned that gloating by the GOP establishment could backfire. "The GOP establishment must ratchet any kind of arrogance way down and get in touch with independent, constitutional conservatives who build the base of the party," she said in a statement Wednesday. "They do the thankless work to put boots on the ground for your campaigns, and they show up to vote if you give us good reason to vote. Anything less and we will not secure victory for America this fall.”

Levin angrily denounced the Establishment.

"These people," Levin said, "are not about empowering the American people, they're about empowering themselves. They see a majority in the House and a majority in the Senate, not as an opportunity to serve the people but to serve themselves."

And, therein lies the problem. Do you see it?

They are having problems raising money because the big money Republicans have backed away. They will not win without it, but they refuse to stop it with the divisive vitriol.

Unless they can successfully go it on their own, (I doubt it.), they are done.

Nope. The 'baggers ignored that race as unwinnable and panned it. What kicked Cantor's ass was that his district was gerrymandered too far right into xenophobic Dixieland. ;)

BlueStreak 06-25-2014 01:22 PM

"...victory for America...." Pffffttt!!! Ha, Ha, Ha......

Sorry Governor, I'm not buying it.

Dave

piece-itpete 06-25-2014 01:22 PM

I'm no 'bagger but I've said it before - ignore these excellent pavement pounders at ones own peril.

That, and Cantor was universally seen an an unprincipled, over-ambitious, slippery SOB.

Support them at everyones peril. They're whackjobs and the GOP establishment knows it.

Dave

piece-itpete 06-25-2014 01:32 PM

I didn't say support them :) I see them as I see the fringe on both sides.

For sure. I mean, I view them as 'the fringe'. Doesn't matter which one. They have valid points on both sides but have other issues I completely disagree with.

Again, the 'Baggers aren't fringe (yet, anyway). Hell, they had a VP candidate in 2008 and dominated (in terms of numbers) the GOP Presidential primary last time.

piece-itpete 06-25-2014 02:08 PM

Romney was no favorite of theirs.

Off the end of a Bermuda pier with any luck.:)

Or should that be a Cayman Island pier?

icenine 06-25-2014 02:48 PM

I am waiting for the Tea Party 86ance.

Rajoo 06-25-2014 03:06 PM

It will come down to the platform GOP adopts and how much sway the Palinites will hold. Gay rights is a settled issue so that leaves abortion and immigration as lightning rods. I am sure national security will enter into the fray because of Iraq and ISIS.

Cayman, that's where his one true love is. (His money.) Yeah, but he's the kind of snake who'd leap off a pier and have his family say it was an accident.....so they can collect the life insurance. Then his "doppelganger" would miraculously appear and marry Ann, then run for President. "I am NOT Mitt Romney! He died in a terrible accident, God rest his soul! Now, vote for ME!!"

Oh Geez, out comes the aborted fetus images. Man, that is so disgusting.

From what I understand, Cantor believed his own legend and was busy campaigning for others, which means he was busy raising money. And the constituents forgot all about him.

Man, that would suck, to be forgotten by all except those who despise you.
