Kid Rock is new to me. "Southern Rock combined with Hip-Hop elements, supporter of republican politicians" (German Wiki).

At least the music is okay, even more than that - I like it pretty much.

Pio1980 06-15-2014 07:48 AM

Kid Rock is the consummate Motor City polymath skills entertainer, the guy to get to do your party if you can afford him.

He's a 'feel good' type of entertaining musician with a fairly broad range, his shows are about having a positive vibe.

 He's not really my cuppa tea. Why would anyone really care what kind of music I prefer?

Pio1980 06-15-2014 12:35 PM

I'm more "deadhead" myself but anyone that's doing a feelgood show without that stupid destructive thug shit is fine with me.

I liked Ted better when he was a rocker, his stance on hunting and guns just makes him seem so stupid.I would love to stick some antlers on him and hunt him down with a bow.

On the Outdoor Channel...:D

one1 06-15-2014 05:19 PM

Funny how a gun can make a guy think he is something he is not.I think if ted had served in the military and actually took human lives he would not have his present attitude.

bobabode 06-15-2014 05:35 PM

Ted had his chance to serve and showed up at the draft board with a load of shit in his pants. They disqualified him. He's probably the most despicable spokesman for the right that I've ever heard. Yet, people like Huckabee and others actively consort with him.

HarmanKardon 06-16-2014 02:48 AM

America needs Frank Zappas. Urgently.

There are plenty of common sense folk about, they just don't attract much attention or aspire political ambition. The last Mr. Smith we sent to DC was Jimmy Carter and he was a target of ridicule, who needs that abuse.

Can't watch. You have to remember that Ted is an anchor for people that respect where their food comes from. Dis Ted and you might as well be for Monsanto. That is the hair split that leans me toward Bavarian love. Call it left or right. I call it common ground.

Pio1980 06-16-2014 08:28 PM

My grandparents were farmer ranchers, I know where food comes from and AFAIK TN isn't involved in the process.

TN is not involved in the process. Neither are the people behind Restrepo. But Restrepo and TN are at the front of all of them.

The challenge with being a grandchild and participating with stories is different than being at the beginning of stories. Going first is scary.

Had to look up Restrepo, never heard of it. Ted is pretty much 'fringe', dunno too many folk that pay any mind to him other than to find him shrill.

In the wingnut world, this type is second only to actors who play tough guy/ gunslinger cowboy parts.

I'm waiting for the day they try to run an animated cartoon character for public office. They do have serious reality vs. fantasy issues, after all.

"In a 1977 High Times article, Nugent stated that he took crystal meth and defecated in his pants in order to avoid being drafted into the Vietnam War. [27] Nugent reaffirmed this in a 1990 interview with Detroit Free Press, stating that "...a week before his physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside his pants caked with excrement and urine." [28] In other interviews, Nugent has denied this claim, stating that he dodged the draft by enrolling at Oakland Community College to get a student deferment. However, his Selective Service classification record shows ratings of 1-Y and 4-F for 1969 and 1972 respectively, indicating ineligibility for military service under established physical, mental, or moral standards, rather than student deferment." Wiki

As to Ted being a great white hunter? California's Dept. of Fish and Game may differ on that score.

Illegal hunting charges[edit]

"In September 2009, Nugent embarked on a hunt near Somerset, El Dorado County, California. He was accompanied by a guide and a cameraman, filming for his Outdoor Channel show "Spirit of the Wild." The video taken appeared in an episode of the show first broadcast on February 9, 2010. California Fish and Gamewardens who watched the broadcast noticed that it showed Nugent killing a very young buck which had been attracted by commercial bait. Both the killing of such a young deer and the use of bait are crimes under California state law. On August 13, 2010, he pled no contest in Yuba County to two misdemeanors: illegally baiting a deer, and failing to have a deer tag signed by a government official after a kill. He was fined USD $1,750 by the court and was banned from hunting in California until June 2012. In April 2012 Nugent signed a plea bargaining agreement to plead guilty to two misdemeanors for illegally taking a bear after shooting one earlier at a bait station. He will be fined $10,000, banned from hunting in Alaska and on Federal land for one year and must complete two years on federal probation." Wiki

Dave

You know, that's what I figured....

'Toons could only be an improvement.

one1 06-17-2014 07:20 AM

I guess this speaks on My mentality, people like me never stood a chance in this world, that is why I guess I choose the role models that I do,but they do give me a positive spark,I still think I am a decent person even though I make the choices I do,I know that I am different than anyone else, but I keep on pushing day after day.there are no awards for living in this world as a average person, just the opportunity to do it every day.

I had to say this in my defense,I know everyone like to shoot from the hip and call it like they see it.I respect that openess and would not want it differently.that is why we are Men,we can stand up and accept it.and at the end of the day we can say we agree to disagree.

BlueStreak 06-17-2014 07:56 AM

I see.

So, in order to deal with real world issues, we refer to Captain America, our fantasy image of an actor based on the parts he played, cocky rock stars who've never had a real job in their lives, the advice of people who've been dead for centuries and/or whatever makes us feel proud to be Americans?

Yet, the real world continues to be a brutal place, wherein our actions have real consequences often resulting in copious bloodshed and/or shocking human misery?

Awesome.

Dave
