Tim Geithner: The White House Asked Me to Mislead the Public
Just Like Benghazi Imagine That
Tim Geithner: The White House Asked Me to Mislead the Public By FRANCESCA CHAMBERS, The Daily Mail The White House wanted Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to lie on Sunday talk shows to downplay the part Social Security played in driving the deficit, it was revealed today. Geithner writes in his memoir Stress Test, out today, that the White House communications director asked him to downplay the long term cost of Social Security spending to mollify the Democratic Party's base. 'I remember during one Roosevelt Room prep session before I appeared on the Sunday shows, I objected when Dan Pfeiffer wanted me to say Social Security didn't contribute to the deficit. It wasn't a main driver of our future deficits, but it did contribute,' he says. 'Pfeiffer said the line was a 'dog whistle' to the left, a phrase I had never heard before. He had to explain that the phrase was code to the Democratic base, signaling that we intended to protect Social Security.' Vid http://nation.foxnews.com/2014/05/12...mislead-public |

Well the trolls are out to disrupt information. I'm sorry but it's posted already.

Don't feed the troll.

You're the troll Dan.
|
The "don't feed the troll" routine on this forum has gone beyond the point of being lame. In this case, the content of a book published by a former Obama cabinet member is being treated as information that is not subject to / open to discussion? Really?
I suggest that folks really start taking a look at what they want this forum to be. If you simply want a forum where opinions not shared by the majority are unwelcome, and topics that might not flatter the current Admin are not treated as legitimate discussion material, then maybe it's time to change the name of the forum. Me? I'm fine with it either way, but the "don't feed the troll" responses are starting to look like tools used by a few to stifle legitimate discourse. And Zeke, your contributions to this thread speak volumes about you. 'Nuf said. |
That's bullshit Mike. It's free speech. Dan made his bed now he gets to lie in it.

Whell: " In this case, the content of a book published by a former Obama cabinet member is being treated as information that is not subject to / open to discussion? Really?"
Quite simple. Start a thread about it and see what happens instead of pontificating. You can come up with a "Help Feed the Troll" graphic to counteract. :) |

Basically, they merely confirm why they needed to be eradicated in the first place. I should have known better but, in the interest of actual discourse, I purged my Ignore List. My, ahem, "error." |
You know what is moronic about this Whell? You are legitimizing a troll whom some of us find despicable in the name of free speech. Cuts both ways.

I introduced myself with my AK username which a few people here refer to me with.
Same basic rule, treat people the way you want to be treated. Disagree without being disagreeable. Heck for me this is a forum that combines good knowledge, political opinions interjected with great humor for entertainment. But, trash a forum, get trashed in return. Par for the course. I keep coming back to the same question for -5. If you cannot write coherently, why do you post? And Dan, I have you Ignored on a permanent basis. Troll watch continues. |

If so, I expect self control based on self respect, not by policing. Just an IMO. I did express a desire to ban -5, but looking back, that was selfish of me |

Fair or unfair, that's the way life is. It's the same principle as the one in the story about the little boy who cried wolf. |
Bitter Obama clingers.

PS - I'm a relatively long time AK member, if not a heavy user, under a different user name. So... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWjWIvJfpNI PS - you talk about AK members like they're the fucking 12 apostles or some such shit. There are as many dickheads on AK as I've run into anywhere else. And considerably more tweaker nerds than anywhere else. You spell worse than 5 below. You got the dyslexia too? |
