Just when I was going to bitch about the Santa Ana winds ripping outside my window this afternoon, I went here... http://www.weather.gov/Radar

Keep your heads down and eyes on the sky midwesterners.

We just had a Super-cell blow over the city a little bit ago. Lisa and the cat's were in the basement closet under the steps for a while. I watched the wall cloud blow right over the house. We ended up with heavy rain and wind gusts of 70+.

I've lived through 52 years of this weather and it still fascinates me. My heart rate was up on this one, watching that wall cloud.

I confess to getting a grin watching the world jiggle and dance in the occasional earthquake we get out here. Love me a good lightning storm, too.:)

Rain is a Good Thing - Luke Bryan :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VKy69sE4VY

There is an older gentleman in this video @ 0:05, the man that says, "Corn, peanuts, cotton." He reminds me of my friend's dad to a tee. He passed away several years ago. Before he did he went through a phase of letting things go. One of the things he let go was an old Gibson Les Paul guitar that he played in a hillbilly band. He gave the guitar to a neighborhood kid that he barely knew. I thought that was pretty cool. :)

I'll try to stay dry through the rain!

HarmanKardon 05-12-2014 01:26 AM

A tree in our region overturned in a severe thunderstorm in our region yesterday and killed a nine years old boy.

Natures way of regeneration. the large oak across the street was felled with the last big wind it had died and rotted inside and nature comes along like the reapper to dispence of it.it also happens on the plains when lightning sparks a massive grass fire, and next spring that area is so green you would never know a fire had been there.I think it is cool the way nature can heal the planet without mans help.same for the human body it is the most resiliant piece of biology I know of..

piece-itpete 05-12-2014 01:22 PM

I hate to say I'm glad I live where I do, only occasional tornados.

Sunny all day in the 80's. Was dry enough I could cut up the tree that fell Saturday in the Hail storm. Full of poison ivy hope I got it all washed off. We do have rain chances the four days.

Hi Barney,

We have a bunch of 50 year old long needle firs trees here in the complex but the damn Western Bark Beetles are trying their best to girdle them and kill 'em off. Goddamn drought is making it easier too.

I'm wishing we had central A/C right about now. :(

I was able to go about a month without heat and AC this year. Thursday last was the first day the AC was on. Been watching the weather out your way. You under water restrictions yet?

The tree that came down was dead in the woods. Poison Ivy covered, don't know if the ivy killed it for sure. Fell into the side garden over my white asparagus patch. So it needed to be cleaned up quick.

Voluntary H2O restrictions so far. We may get a reprieve this coming winter with the signs pointing towards an El Nino but it's getting bleak. Every reservoir out here is down to mud almost and I'm sure that not a drop of the mighty Colorado is entering Mexico. We're killing the Sea of Cortez down there, one of the most prolific hatcheries/fisheries on the west coast. :(

Keep an eye on the sky over there in Misery Ed.

Calif. gov declares state of emergency as wildfires scorch San Diego County

The biggest concern late Wednesday was in San Marcos north of San Diego, where a new blaze broke out in the late afternoon, some 21,000 evacuation notices were sent to residents and a California State University campus with nearly 10,000 students was evacuated. At least five structures there were destroyed, authorities said, but it wasn't immediately clear how many were homes.

The worst of the fires was in the coastal city of Carlsbad, about 30 miles north of San Diego and home to Legoland California. The park was closed because of a power outage caused by the fire.

Carlsbad Mayor Matt Hall said the blaze consumed an eight-unit condominium complex and damaged eight homes and two businesses. Thousands were asked to evacuate their homes.

"This is May, this is unbelievable. This is something we should see in October," Chief Michael Davis said. "I haven't seen it this hot, this dry, this long in May."

Meanwhile, firefighters gained ground on another San Diego County fire that broke out Tuesday and forced the evacuation of 20,000 homes. Authorities reported 50 percent containment of the 2.42-square-mile fire that broke out in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego.

Hope you'all out in California get relief soon. Get an AC before they are all gone!

I'd send you some of our weather if it was possible.

38° Celsius already in May? That would be a good reason for me to commit suicide, although I am an owner of an AC in my bedroom since two weeks. When I do not post on AudioKarma anymore and when I do not post on Political Chat anymore you guys know that summer heat killed my mind.

I have one suggestion, two liters of cold bier.:D

We are just to the north of San Diego county and having the same weather. 98 degrees right now but the Santa Ana winds are lessening. It's supposed to cool down by the weekend. We're keeping our fingers crossed.:(

No, not at all. We're in Costa Mesa right next to Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. No brush to burn, just a lot of concrete, stucco and asphalt.

How's it going up there? I'll bet it's real toasty.:( You're near Lodi?

It is stinkin' hot here!!
Yesterday, triple digits. Only in the high 90s today. 😅

Thank goodness for the delta breeze in the evenings.

Yep, the Lodi area. Crops are suffering with no water but the grapes like the heat.

Ah, Mondavi is pretty big around there, we've been known to sip some of their juice. Woodbridge Cab isn't too shabby. ;)

"San Diego County Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis said three arson-related arrests had been made, but none was suspected of playing a role in the main brush fires.
Two teenagers were arrested in Escondido on Thursday on suspicion of trying to start two small fires, and an adult was arrested in Oceanside for “adding” to a fire, she said."
