Republican Kangaroo Court/Select Commitee On Benghazi

The new committee headed by Curt Gowdy is nothing but a political farce and a sham, IMO. The only abuse of power here is squarely on Republican shoulders.

Hardy

Subpoena Power,

You know all those survivors that where on the ground at the time. Ya the ones that have been threaten by our administration.

As our friends on the left have claimed in the past:

1. Its about the appearance of impropriety
2. If there's nothing going on, them there's nothing to fear in a thorough, rigorous investigation of the available facts.

Pio1980 05-11-2014 01:21 PM

It's quite possible that this could only strengthen her stature as a competent Statesperson and backfire as a ploy to discredit her.

That's a load of hooey. This is the ninth attempt to find something that isn't there. Do you still think there was a stand down order?

Precisely.

Quite simply, nobody beats Hillary at her game.

This is like Temple asking to play the Philadelphia Eagles: if you make them suit up, they're going to whip your ass.

It's funny how crocodile tears from John Boehner is a sign of humility but when a woman sheds a tear it's a sign of weakness.

That is what they used to say about the woman shedding blood too, but it is kind of hard to believe any man that was ever married to a woman with PMS could go along with it.

Personally in all honesty,

I saw Hillary get stressed out by the end of the DNC primary and the end of the SS term. I see what the presidency does to the ones that hold the office.

I will not be voting for her finger on the button.

I'll most likely be in a solid red state in 2016, but she will still get my vote because I want to be on the right side of history.

As shall I. :) Like many other states, I suspect that your state is no longer reliably red Tom.

I'm planning om moving from Florida to Alabama.

I suspect Alabama will be reliably red for quite a while, but I'll be adding a couple of drops of blue to the mix.

bobabode 05-13-2014 07:36 AM

A cautionary tale for Teapublican party. Remember Senator Joe McCarthy and his red scare tactics in the '50's?

Playing mendacious political games can and often do come back to bite you in the ass. By all means continue with this witch hunt all summer long.;)

Like Virginia. When I first moved here in '86 the Religious Right was riding high.

Today, as Bob Dylan once wrote; ".....now you don't talk so loud. Now you don't seem so proud. You're invisible now..........".:)

It seems to me a right many people here have seen the "Christian Nation" hullabaloo and the Republican rip off for what it really is. A bunch of hot air and fairytales.

I checked the census data and the election results.

Alabama is 70% white, but Obama got 38.6% of the vote.

So that tells me that there are a few good white people there. :)

Do you understand how stupid some of your comments sound?

So the only "good white people" in this country voted for Obama. I feel sorry for your kids.

The Benghazi cover up was the single most despicable and treacherous act of a US President in history and it's the poster for why Obama and his admin are far beneath the stature of the office.

Who TF is this mutt?

I know this is another of my broken records, but what the hell, eh?

The Benghazi "embassy" was a CIA station under the control and the responsibility of the CIA. Any non-CIA staff, including the ambassador, were window dressing for CIA operations. Many of the staff identified as State Department employees were not, including Woods and Doherty. Nobody in government can say so on the record. Even though everybody knows so, they dare not confirm it. So Clinton and the Obama administration are stuck with it. Republican leadership knows that as well, but will exploit it politically anyway...which makes them lower than whale shit in just one more major way.

The State Department had no authority over Benghazi operations or security. The loss of life was the responsibility of the CIA.

Quote:

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- The CIA was the real commanding agency at the attacked U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, not the State Department, senior U.S. intelligence officials said.

In addition, two of the four men who died in the Sept. 11 attack -- former Navy SEAL commandos Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty -- were actually CIA contractors killed defending the mission, not State Department contract security officers, as originally publicly identified, the officials told several news organizations on condition of anonymity.

The ultimate responsibility/authority to engage our military on foreign soil in this situation rests with the president. He not only failed to act to protect our interests or to take charge of an event with direct national security implications, he refused to even publicly acknowledge the reality of the situation as it unfolded.

Then comes the cover up... which was presumably to manipulate the potential PR fallout a month before the election. Stinks to high heaven and the real evidence showing how dirty this admin is in this is just coming out.

Pure Mezz. Little to no grasp of the facts surrounding Benghazi, how the military works and unabashed conjecture straight out of the rightwing echo chamber.

The fact is that security for the Benghazi "Embassy" was the responsibility of the CIA, not the State Department. And to protect their cover and activity, the CIA doesn't give a shit in Allen Dulles' hat how many of their people get slaughtered when it comes to keeping their secret operations secret. Woods and Doherty were CIA contractors, not State Department contracted security.
