Mothers Day Thread
Well mine has passed at the end of 2011 so it has profoundly changed this day.
Im sure there is many of us here with that same feeling. So how about a thread to celebrate them anyway. Mine always loved music and dancing. This song has new meaning for me... Paul Simon - Mother And Child Reunion (1972) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDjjWpLKsGM |
This one I have lived by and love it ever since it came out.

I've been ridin' a winning horse for a long, long time Sometimes I wonder is this the end of the line No one should take advantage of who they are No man has got it made If he thinks he does, he's wrong Every mother's son better hear what I say Every mother's son will rise and fall someday I've seen it happen so many times, so many times before Some man got so much money he doesn't worry no more Or he's got such a pretty woman that'll treat him fine My friend has been a fool It happens everytime Every mother's son better hear what I say Every mother's son will rise and fall someday I'm not tryin to preach to no one, to no one at all I've seen so many of my good friends just rise to fall 'cause they got so much money or a woman so fine My friends have all been fools, it happens every time Every mother's son better hear what I say Every mother's son will rise and fall someday What I say Every mother's son better hear what I say Every mother's son will rise and fall someday Oh, every mother's son will rise and fall someday |
A little over a year ago my Mother passed away. Have to keep busy or dwell to much on the loss.

But I'll celebrate her being.... My mom had this album (I have it now) I remember sitting on her lap and her singing and teaching me the song. Harry Belafonte Carnegie Hall Mama Look A Boo Boo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBUGtPn7eQo |

Mine died on Thanksgiving Day, 2008 at 84.
Dad passed the following February at 91. There isn't a single day that passes that I don't think of them, ever. Despite anything I may have said here I always loved them, admired them and miss them terribly. The last picture of them together on their 65th Anniversary in 2008. Attachment 2229 Dave |
My mother used to complain about the Beatles a lot. She would tell me they "ruined" my generation.
Then, I caught her crying the day John Lennon was shot. "How could somebody do this to him? He had such a big heart." Her favorite Beatles song; "Julia". Dave |
Thank you Dave for this wonderful moving picture!

Lost Mom one week before I met Florence, often wondered whethere she and Dad had anything to do with our meeting, Heart attack and she asked for no heroic neasures and so the second attack snt her to her rest two months shy of her 91st birthday. The solo picture was taken around the time sh and Dad married. The other was as they were standing in the garden of the house where I was born. Dad passed on in 1962 days shy of his 81st birthday.

My mother died in 1967, and my old man crapped out in 1958.
So I've had plenty of time to get over it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ4fD3rJt8E |
Been many years since mom left to the great beyond. Strange the weird things that sometimes trigger grief even now.
She had her issues but I've never met anyone kinder. Pete |
My mother didn't care much about anything beyond the problems she had in her marriage to my father. Certainly not much about the day to day life experience of either of her sons. Do I miss her? Sure. Just goes to show ya how fucked up we humans can be.
