Lemme see. The shoe bomber was Nigerian, so he had dark skin. Obama was in no hurry to do anything about him. Hatians have a crisis and they're dark-skinned. Obama's going to drop everything and help them. Therefore, he's just racially motivated. It makes no difference that hundred of thousands of human beings are dying. It's only "them." I love how MSNBC does the cut and paste style of ignoring context but FOX is just as guilty so before you once again boil with rage over what MSNBC has shown you just be smart enough to understand they pasted together portions while potentially and likely deleting huge portions of comment that may put it in proper context. Okay, what is it that Obama should have done? Should have moved more slowly to help people in Haiti? Is that why Bush waited so long to help people in New Orleans? He didn't want anyone to think he was pandering to the "black community"?

The whole point is you say "Implied" is good enough for you based on how MSNBC framed it and context means everything. I am not defending Rush I am being critical of the news. Anyone who cant see these tactics MSNBC has used here, has before and will continue to do aswell as FOX, CNN and others then your not going to be taken seriously by me ever again. If anyone accepts this type of "news" and rants about it then you are nothing more than a empty can making alot of noise.

I knew I was exposing myself to that criticism when I posted the link. The trouble is the entire seven minute rant, which is also available online, was so addled and disjointed that I felt it would exhaust everyone so I looked for a shorter clip which distilled Rush's tirade down to its true essence.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that I have more understanding of how the media can distort information through omission, which seems to be what you're saying has happened here, than your average Joe. Unless you can point out exactly what pertinent information has been omitted and how that context changes things, I'm going to stand by my opinion that this is not an example of manipulating information.

So, Rush says that Obama is somehow using the situation in Haiti to pander to the black community. Do you suggest that he meant anything else? His statements are petty clear and I can't imagine what else he may have said that would change their meaning. This wasn't a subtle, nuanced message. He was pretty clear.

I can't help but notice that most of your posts have little or nothing to do with the topic at hand, and I guess that's fine. It's a casual sort of forum. But I also notice you're real quick to tell others they're wrong, but when someone pins you down you just ignore it.

Like that business about how any government regulation of any private business is bad. Or this thread, just several posts ago, I pretty well addressed your concerns. Now all you have to say is "I know you are but what am I" or some such nonsense. If you're going to contribute to the conversation, than contribute. Back up your statements when they're challenged. Or do the most noble thing of all and admit you were mistaken. It's pointless to take the time to consider your posts and write a thoughtful response because once you're position is challenged you just move on to something else.

I don't think I know everything. But, I'll damned if I haven't met plenty of people who do think they've found the eternal font of truth and wisdom.
And they are usually self described as "conservatives". Maybe that's just my perception, but I don't think so. I have yet to hear a Liberal Talk show host refer to himself as an "oracle of truth, ordained by God", as I have heard Captain Oxycontin say numerous times. Humor? Sure. But you know what? If you say it over and over again with a little chuckle included each time.......people start to believe it.
