Benghazi as an issue fizzles

Charles Krauthammer:

It’s late, too late. This should have been a year ago, three, four more months ago. Politically speaking, the administration has won. They ran out the clock. If we had a select committee from the beginning, really had coherent hearings — unlike we’ve had, which were disjointed hearings that let all things sort of slip away — we really would have been somewhere. We would have gotten to the bottom of this. But as a political fact, this thing is done.

"Today the Republican chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, pronounced himself “satisfied” with the U.S. military response to Benghazi."

These clowns seem pretty slow on the uptake.:p

Something for Dems everywhere to be very proud of, I'm sure.

I'm so sick of seeing WP as the post topic from finn. Don't you ever look else wear for propaganda.

The treatment of Benghazi by the GOP and their cheerleaders has made me quite proud not to be a Republican.

Precisely.

There was never anything here, even that radical conservative loon Charlie Kraut gets it.

Oh I'm sure that's true. But I'm sure you can also take great pride in how the Adminstration handled the Benghazi situation from start to finish.

Pio1980 04-10-2014 09:03 PM

So it's entire importance is as an issue to somehow embarrass the Administration and State?

How many Marines were killed in Lebanon under Reagan?

I do not remember the Democrats trying to hang that around his neck.

I do remember that the response was a bug-out.

Your memory is flawed, I think.

But why bring up Reagan and Lebanon? I thought the handling of Benghazi was a success story in this post.

Rajoo 04-10-2014 09:26 PM

Because it is true?

Benghazi-hazy GOP conveniently forgets Reagan's Lebanon debacle

When disasters happen overseas Americans are supposed to come together.

Your party is phucked at the national level Whell. Even Jeb Bush knows it.

donquixote99 04-10-2014 09:55 PM

The Republicans rejoiced at the Ambassador's death. It provided them with such a lovely, fresh, dripping, bloody shirt. Alas, it hasn't been quite as effective a weapon as they thought.

They are left to hope that maybe some other foreigners will kill some American officials, so they can try again.

Yup.

I was sad when the Marines were killed in Lebanon. I certainly did not go around blaming Reagan for it.

Trust me it an't over your reading the WP propaganda, they have been saying it's over since it happened.

When Obama is ousted and the senate is lost we will know the truth.

Yes

we do need you here at PC!

BlueStreak 04-11-2014 05:57 PM

There was nothing there to begin with. It fizzled because you can only try to make something out of nothing for so long, then people start ignoring you.

Yep and the truth is that shit like Benghazi happens a lot more frequently that our head in the sand ostrich friends realize. And it's been that way all along. Plans go south, mistakes are made, people get killed and, yes, sometimes those in charge decide, for whatever reason, to stand down.

That's life. I know you guys love to elect actors, but real life isn't Hollywood. Get used to it, it's never going to change.

Gowdy: Clinton to testify in October before Benghazi panel, all questions ‘asked’ and ‘answered’

Mr. Gowdy is doing an outstanding job.http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015...estions-asked/

finnbow 08-29-2015 02:13 PM

Nothing will come directly from the Benghazi hearings as there is no there there. OTOH, it did lead indirectly to the email brouhaha (with Hillary's help), something that'll possibly stick to some degree whether or not criminal charges come out of it.

bobabode 08-29-2015 02:18 PM

Yaaaaaawn, Benghazi again?

Trey Gowdy is going to get spanked just like Issa was...and Hillary's poll numbers will get a boost as a result.

It's awesome how the timing has worked out. :)

bobabode 08-29-2015 02:29 PM

Emailgate will vanish in a puff smoke and a cloud of dust and Clinton will get another boost in the polls. :D

Which federal prison will they put Hillary in?

Hillary is more responsible for the current mess and its timing than Gowdy. She could have clean about the email mess when it first came up. Instead, she chose a path that resulted in the current drip, drip, drip. She made this bed. Let her sleep in it.

Precisely.

Like Whitewater-gate, Vince Foster murder-gate, Bluedress-gate and on and on and on. Always no there, there and righties like yourself are left to mutter, kvetch and moan about it while the Clintons get ever more popular.

Ol' Bluedog Bill has become a national treasure despite the BJ in the Oval Office, that's gotta hurt.

In this case, no. She has a lot more to lose than to win. Her paranoia may have bitten her in the ass.
