Is there room for an adult in the GOP?

Jeb Bush makes a rational statement about illegal immigration which made me wonder, can a rational man be elected in today's GOP?

I saw that thread but my question was different. It's not just about Jeb and his remark, that is only what make me wonder.

Does the GOP have room for any rational actor?

Is it possible the GOP passively ignores the teabaggers knowing they have no other option but them and move to rational candidates?

It's their only option if they want to win in an increasingly difficult electoral demographic. The problem is that their 'bagger base thinks McCain and Romney lost the general election because they weren't conservative enough.

I challenge this statement.

I find it hard to believe that any educated rational person believes this. That of course leaves two options. Are the teabaggers that stupid or (as I believe) just from an all or nothing mindset.

I have never seen evidence of 'baggers being educated, rational persons.

So you honestly feel that they simply don't understand life outside of the backwoods here in 2014?

There's no other way to explain it. How else could someone believe that McCain and Romney both lost because they weren't conservative enough? The character of two otherwise honorable men was greatly diminished by their insincere kowtowing to the 'baggers during the primaries. It hurt them with both 'baggers and independents.

Take it from someone who knows. A Floridian that was a State Employee during the 8 years that Jeb Bush was Governor here.

Jeb Bush is every bit as evil as his brother George, but he is way smarter and more way more articulate. And he wants to be President. This is one scary motherfucker.

And he will run.

I do not trust him either. Perhaps the morons in the party will save us from him.

I think between Pres and VP, 20 years of Bush in the administration over the last 33 years was plenty.

It would be a mistake to underestimate him.

He is setting himself up to run, I can see it.

And he will be a formidable candidate.

He is nothing like the parade of self destructive clowns that the GOP has shown so far.

If he runs, and after seeing this, I am almost positive he will, he will wipe the floor with them and give Hillary a run for her money.

Quite frankly, this has me worried.

Pio1980 04-07-2014 08:48 PM

If they pair Michelle Bachman up with him there's nothing to worry about. A poison pill as effective as the ditz from Wasilla was for McCain.

I really don't get you people that think their better than. Then you feel it's your duty to make rules for others to follow.

Good luck with that behavioral flaw.

I know he will run. I was surprised to see Chris Matthews being duped into believing he was not.

Everyone says JEB isn't dumb, and I believe them. So forget that fantasy, it will never happen.

Depends on who's driving the bus at the convention. Otherwise who do you think could help him on a ticket?

I have always favored Sarah. Anyone here can verify.

The ditz from Wasilla?

donquixote99 04-07-2014 10:26 PM

JEb is basically driving the bus, if he arrives at the convention with the nomination in hand, which would almost certainly be the case in any JEB scenario. Sure, money talks, but a smart guy won't let himself be told to throw the race. Like, if he's got the delegates, nobody's going to 'fire' him or anything....

It can still happen if we wish real hard and click our heels.

More rational than a typical GOP hack? Who gives a shit when he's dragging the same old Republican party philosophy and platform along with him?
