For the record, there is a review in place to determine whether or not immigration enforcement under our current President is being too harsh?

Think about that the next time some undereducated Righty tries to sell that we're being soft on immigration...

bobabode 03-14-2014 12:13 AM

Can't slip anything by you Zeke. ;)

Of the deportees:
How many are criminals?

How many are people caught at the border?

merrylander 03-15-2014 11:02 AM

It is not amnesty as there will be fines and a waiting period. It was amnesty when Saint Ronnie did it.

I did it by the law, it cost my about to be employer $2500 for my H1B and it cost me $1200 for the same lawyer for my green card. I have forgotten the fees for naturalization but they were there.

Wrong question my friend.;)

How many are mothers, fathers, sons and daughters yearning for a better life?

Wrong to ask about the number of criminals deported?

Not really, just trying to lend some perspective as to why so many folks come here from their own impoverished countries. We are first and foremost a nation of immigrants, it's been the engine that propels us forward. It's sad that so many want to bar the gate behind themselves.

Criminality is in the eye of the beholder, just ask the 'Baggers. They think that anyone here illegally is a criminal who should be deported. There should be a middle way is where I'm coming from.

Zeke 03-15-2014 11:43 AM

Any Bagger who feels that way should be forced to disclose when his family got here on a boat.

AFAIK being undocumented is a civil offense not criminal but Don will know better.

You are making assumptions about my question.

The President is under pressure to ease up on deportation. I would like to
get a picture of whom he is deporting.

There are real criminals who need deporting...kidnappers, pedophiles, gang bangers, human traffickers etc.

We have been invaded by a lot very dangerous people from especially El Salvador, Quatemala, Honduras and Mexico.

These countries are even afraid of some of these people whom we have deported.

" Fiscal year 2011 saw 396,906 deportations, the largest number in the history of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement; of those, 216,698 had been convicted of crimes, including:[76]Wikipedia Here

And 129,151 convicted of 'other.'

I have heard, (don't know whether it's true or not), that included in the deportation numbers are those that were turned back at the border before they ever entered the country. I wouldn't call that "deportation". Can anyone enlighten me in regards to that?

If someone is caught at the border while crossing then that person has to be
processed before being sent back. That would be classified as deportation.

"Other" is a particularly heinous crime. In some countries they shoot "Otherists" on sight.

Sorry but having seen it happen they merely tell them they are not allowed in. Why get all involved in all the deportation chit when it is not required.

Yep. Being an 'other' is about as bad as it gets. Deporting them is really mild, compared to what generally happens.

'Others' aren't really human beings, after all.

They could be nearly anything, "other" than me. That's what is so sneaky about them.

I actually believe most of them feel this way. They feel that the initial crime is just being here, then if they get a job with no SS#, that would be another crime, food stamps-another crime, welfare-another crime, no drivers license-another crime, and so on...

merrylander 03-16-2014 12:13 PM

Not sure why there is all the bitching since Polk stole their country at gunpoint.

From this ICE report it does not seem to be so.

https://www.ice.gov/removal-statistics

From report:
Of the 151.834 removals of individuals without criminal convictions 84 percent or 128.398 were apprehended at the border while attempting to unlawfully enter the US..

bobabode 03-17-2014 11:30 PM

Another good reason to scrap this idiotic & sick Prison Industrial Complex.

From what I can glean from the ICE 2013 report the great majority of the "other" was people caught at the border.
