our travels to this point

ok got activated and ready to set up shop.Hello one and all,I am a refugee from the AK side of town,My name is Cleon. and i hope i bring a diverse point of view to these halls of sanctity.i live in a small town in eastern Oklahoma, called Muskogee, made famous by Mr. Merle Haggard.this is a very conservitive town of heavy hitting bible thumpers ,rednecks and various gang bangers and the like.

myself ,my wife Cheri and my 2 girls Cheyene,Daisy And adopted boy,Buddie live in the heart of what is fondly known as 18th street.a recovering war zone from the crack wars of the 80's and 90's.we are well received and live safely but cautiously.when the police come through here they travel 4 deep to a car not the usual single or double officer to a car. but none the less this is our home now.we at one time were on top of the world.

unforeseen circumstances with the parents and my wife's health and mine have bought us back to Muskogee.we lived in Denver ,Colorado before this and both worked at career jobs at K-mart.in '98 my mother suffered a massive stroke were i needed to take off of work to help care for her.we sold our hose and much of our possessions to move in with them.and in 2000 we were able to move back out and into a nice apartment.my parents moved back to Muskogee to their birthplace.

soon after my father sent for us to move to Muskogee also to help them with things.once again we were uprooted.we soon found employment here in Muskogee at and earned less than half of what we earned in Colorado.then in '06 my wife suffered a massive stroke that left her paralyzed and not able to communicate.and i had been managing my own health issues that had evolved from my military days(non combat related).we stayed in our house till '10 living off of our credit cards and me working when i could.my dad passed in '08 and my mom in '09

we stayed in our house that was across the street from parents house for another year till we had to get out due to it being in foreclosure.we at one time had a credit score of 800 and better. and know we live from disability check and what i make on ebay selling off our possessions.so here we are at this stage of our lives.and boy do i have some opinions about things.this is or family pictures

ok part 2 of our journey, We are a very strong Christian family.and are happy for the most part and satisfied with our situation.we live frugally, but have funds to pursue or hobbies my wife likes jigsaw puzzles and goes to a daycare type facility Mon-Fri she is high strung and likes to adopt all the stray dogs on the neighborhood. me i love music and like to get a nice piece of stereo equipment when funds allow.Daisy is the tiny yorkie and Cheyene is the medium terrier mix.and Buddie is the blue english bulldog we are keeping for a freind.that is us in a nut shell. more to come.

Welcome aboard! Fellow K-Mart alumni, worked twice for the company in the seventies. Once in the back then in security. Met the future wife who also worked there. Most of my oldest friends come from the days at K-Mart.

K-mart was the place to be at one time .now it is just a shadow of it's former glory.in the town i live in there are never more than 5-6 cars in the parking lot and the wally world lot is full.

Yep mine too, well they do a bit better than that. I still drive by the Walmart to go to it instead.
Neither my Sears or the Kmart sell cd's anymore, how weird. Well, Kmart has old whatever is left stock on the shelf and the Sears has nothing at all.

It's that old, "Oh, NOBODY buys those anymore.". Then they notice the old codgers scrounging around in the thrift bins......................

Think vinyl.:)

Oh, and; WELCOME CLEON!

That is quite a story.

I now have my sister living with me. She had her fifth heart surgery a few years ago and is pretty much restricted to working part-time now. Fortunately, I still have a pretty good job that pays the bills.

You never know what challenges life will hand you.

Dave

one1 11-12-2013 06:26 PM

Warm greetings from someone who grew up in Oklahoma and once -- many years ago -- had the deepest crush upon a girl who went to HS at Tulsa Washington and, later, went to Rogers State in your city.

I have felt some of your loss and do not frequent AK much these days as, while I maintain ownership of my classic sound system, it hasn't been plugged in for over a year and that site is difficult mentally for me, right now.

That said, I adore people here and very much wish that I could locate an opportunity to meet any of them, anywhere.

I cannot stress to you the joy I have found here, when I could locate none anywhere else, and hope you get same. :)

BlueStreak 11-13-2013 03:46 AM

Why do I fell like I should be wearing hip waders?

Dave

hiya Zeke, thank you for the welcome.yes i started on AK and it does get mentaly challenging sometimes i mostly just lurk and see if i can find a interesting thread on the older stuff.

yes i think this spot is going to be good for me also.i have a lot to say, and already i am running into ,i cant say opposition but i guess normal new kid on the block stuff.that is healthy though it shows your moral and inner fiber.my best friend (we were more like brothers than friends).we started off not liking each other and almost went to blows.life is funny that way.i have some more pictures i will put up later.i guess when i get going full steam my life will be pretty open.

that is ok i have no problem with that i have no deep dark secrets ,not a serial killer or NSA member or anything. ok well gotta get the pictures loaded.

oh yea Oklahoma is a pretty good place to live.it suits me cause i am a country hick type anyway. i hope no Oklahoman's take that the wrong way.i am just sayin' a simple down to earth type feeling i get.

one1 11-13-2013 08:31 AM

Beautiful cat's,the cats around us are pretty much wild my wife try's to get them up on the porch but they want nothing to do with humans ,they are smart.she gives them food and warm milk though.they keep the rat population down around here.
