Are you getting your H1N1 shot
 

So how many of you are going to get your flu shot ?

Just curious.

We will if they finally decide that over 65s are worth saving.

My daughter had H1N1 in June and I did not catch it. The second wave went through this part of the country in October and I did not get it. It is almost after the fact already and the vaccine is still not locally available so I will skip it. I may get the regular seasonal flu shot as that should start to surface now.

No, I won't be getting it. I'm 64 which means I'm at low risk for this strain and there isn't a lot of vaccine to go around. I never get the seasonal flu anyway.

I thought some folks over a certain age were more resistant to this flu due to built up immunity. Not that its much of a consolation .

H1N1 seems to go after younger people and pregnant women.

I am neither young, nor pregnant. But it doesn't matter as I refuse to get the vaccination anyhow, because my dog, who is a staunch Republican, has informed me that Obama has put "mind control drugs" in it. He's a Republican, and therefore incapable of lying, scheming or being incorrect, and I am a God fearing, Reagan loving, Yankee Doodle Dandy acolyte of John Wayne and William Shatner who will henceforth follow his every directive unconditionally. Lest I fall into the ranks of the "mind-controlled" as so many of you have.

That assumption is based upon you having had the shot or the flu during tha previous swine flu epidemic back sometime in the 70s. I never bothered with flu shots until I came down here in 84, and I do not recall whether I had the flu during the 70s.

Unless they shot me up when I was in the Army I've never had one and I don't think I've ever had the flu.

For the record I do not plan on having the shot.

Note to file: I believe the 2009 H1N1 shot is different than the normal flu shot/nasal spray being given out.

I never get flu shots or the flu in general. Just another scare tactic from the drug companies.

I don't qualify at my age but would take a pass if I did.

Unfortunately, it appears that the last 800,000 pre-filled syringe vaccines have been recalled for lack suspected of potency.

The claim is that this is only a small portion of produced vaccine but my wifes clinic is now out again with no projected date of the arrival of new, yet.

I smell lawsuits already.

The flu pandemic that ran from 1918 to 1920 killed at least 50 million people. Some believe the number was closer to 100 million. That's anywhere from 3% to 6% of the total world population at the time. It was caused by H1N1.

We're getting them at work, and yes, I'll be first in line as I was for the seasonal vaccine. Wish I already had it.

Look at it this way I pay in $96.40 a month to Medicare for which I usually get one flu shot each year, this year I got two so that must have bankrupted the system.

Do you like having Medicare?

Seems allot of folks are all of a sudden complaining about how bad it is.

A year ago it was the best thing since sliced bread. Go figure.

Medicare is OK, it is the supplemental insurance we have that is breaking the bank.

This morning they said that on 37% of care givers got it last year. That speaks volumes.

Everyone knew it was coming and everyone got it.

If it was deadly we would have lost many many millions.

I think how it was handled was a complete failure.

Lordy, we had ours back in September.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago. H1N1 was mixed in with the normal seasonal flu serum. No side effects, other than I've been pole-vaulting out of bed since.

When the Salk vacine first came out I remember arguing with a woman in rural Quebec. She would not have her children vaccinated, claimed it was all some sort of plot. I often wonder if the kids got polio.

I hope not! My dad remembers polio, awful.

When I was over in merry ol England a few years back they were still arguing about fluorinating the water.

Thankfully our drinking water comes from 300 feet under our front lawn, no unnatural flourides, no chlorine.:D

A note: interesting how getting a flu vaccine could become a political issue. It's almos as if one side were trying to call into question anything advanced by Science...

You know the conspiracy folks regarding shots, genetic food, etc are usually lefties.
