Well, Lookee Here-"Oops" Perry Is Yucking It Up In Fantasyland

After his 27 minute whimper about California being a nanny state while trying to rustle some jobs for the Lone idjit state, he got this...
"Brown spokesman Evan Westrup took note of the location from which Perry spoke, less than a mile from Disneyland.
“It seems our friend from Texas took a detour to neighboring Fantasyland while in Anaheim today,” Westrup said. “We hope his stay is pleasant. In case you missed it, while Gov. Perry spent his afternoon politicking, Gov. Brown was taking action to bolster the state’s business climate. ... Also, a reminder that California has had 26 consecutive months of job growth.”

'No hat, no cattle and no brains' can take his lil' rodeo on down the road, thank you very much. That chit don't play here.

26 months of job growth, and the unemployment rate in the state is still 8.9%? I think Brown's got a lot more "bolstering" to do.

Texas unemployment rate is 6.4%, by the way...

Yup, lots more "bolstering" needs to be on the Gov's agenda.

I guess my comment was a bit on the mean side. Sorry, Mike.

After all he's in a bedroom community on the outskirts of Detroit with two Walmarts to choose from.

Yes, Detroit. Ruled for eons by Dems. Gov Brown will have CA emulating Detroit's performance in no time flat.

Interesting recap of the city's recent history ran just yesterday in the News.

Good for the brief space that was afforded the story, though I think they went a bit light on the city's history of political corruption.

Most of that growth has been in the public sector.

You sure are given to some pretty singleminded hyperbole, Mike.

As to your blind insistence that Detroits' and moreover the whole Rust Belts' decline is a product of the scary Democratic machine? You might want to remove that pirates eye patch and fake pegleg and take a look around you. It's your vaunted 'Captains of Industry' that abandoned your city for greener pastures offshore in places like communist China.

I'm left wondering why any Michigander would want to emulate Texas and how they treat their citizens?

Yes, excellent article! Thanks, Mike.

It seems to mirror the now elusive documentary that used to be on Youtube. (I keep searching the 'net, but can't seem to find it. It might help if I could remember the title.)

One key paragraph;

"They weren’t. The nation was on the brink of a recession. The auto industry was consolidating. Racial tensions were festering. The slow descent that ended 62 years later in the nation’s largest municipal bankruptcy had begun."

The "Dog eat Dog" nature of the auto industry and irreconcilable racial tensions were somehow all the Democratic Parties fault?

See, that's what I don't get. I am told that even back in the 1950s, 60s & '70s here in Hampton Roads, there were racial tensions, but people tended to stay put and go on with their lives.......rather than just pack up and leave. The same goes for lean economic times---The abandonment just isn't there, as it seems to have been in northern cities. (Like the area I grew up in.)

Imagine if all of those people had stayed put and found other (legal) ways to make a living rather than simply abandon the place?

We're both old enough to remember "white flight". One black family moves in; all the white folks haul ass, taking their money and businesses with them. "Abandonment", which was the real root cause for plummeting property values.

I fail to see how any political party is responsible for racial attitudes of individuals or the ruthlessness of avaricious corporations. Those things are just an unfortunate facet of human nature. Issues that are either fostered or discouraged by cultural forces.

“In Detroit, the solution wasn’t to make it work. It was to leave.”

That may be, if you know anything at all about Jerry Brown you know he is more fiscally conservative than any Republican you know of. The dud has a padlock on his wallet, seriously. That and he answers to the voters and nobody else.
Thankfully he is more socially liberal than any Democrat. :)

Texas unemployment rate is 6.4%, by the way...

50 percent without health insurance however.

Much poverty in Texas.....and of course how many of the industries in Texas are using the Walmart model?
