I thought I would use the politically correct title for Big Brother sorry.

Back a few years our state went to a plate that had a bar code on it. No raised letters just a flat panel. Asked a law enforcement friend about reading the plate at night. Said they had that covered with a wink! Seems the camera in the patrol car does it.

I've been busted twice by the cameras. Even so, I think it is a great idea. I wish I had been the first to think of it. Could have made a lot of money.;)

They've been storing the data for many years as well. Have they not? When was the last time you got your liscence renewed or registered a vehicle without an SS number, address, phone number, review of your driving record...........etc.,etc.:rolleyes:

Nada. They're optical scanners like the grocery store checkout. Hi def CC digital camera mounted on Smokey's dashboard reads it into the onboard 'puter which searches the DMV database.

I get that, but it's a LOT different from tracking my every move.

If a cop is scanning your liscense plate and your doing 110 in a 35.....you're busted anyways. They've had radar for decades. :rolleyes:

Yes, the cameras at intersections (And, now, inside guard rails.) can bust you for speeding, but they are stationary, they can't follow you everywhere you go. But, with satellites and GPS tracking, (Think; Cell phone.;)) your speed could be monitored.

BTW, Oregon HP mostly use laser instead of radar so SOL with a detector.

They can track me where ever I go, they can read my emails, listen to my phone conversations, photograph my property by satellite....... I don't care. If their life is that pathetic that it makes mine look interesting, then have at it.

Got nothing to hide and am as boring as the day is long.

Plate scanning is as old as plates using the old Eyeball Mark One.

The key here is the ability to catalog the information.
