Corporate tax rates. Why on earth......

...would anyone support giving tax cuts to entities who routinely wiggle out of paying them anyways?

I have a compromise for you; If the actual rate paid averages ~16% rather than the official rate of 35%, why don't we just lower the offical rate to 22%, eliminate all deductions and loopholes and call it a day? That way, they get their tax cut, we get the revenue increase and everybody wins.:p

Never happen! Because the average is 16% and is to high for them now!

Hence the smiley. It was a tongue in cheek missive.

I'm actually with you in spirit on this, though probably for different reasons. And I'd like to see this tax policy applied to both corps and individuals.

As much as they may publicly say otherwise, the big corporations have the lawyers and accountants that make the current system work for them while disadvantaging their small company competitors. They would not want a system in which they pay the same amount, but without all the shenanigans they use to get there. In such a system, their smaller competitors would enjoy the same tax treatment. The big boys want a good return on the graft they shower upon Congress.

Something stinks here.

"At the same time, big companies are shouldering a smaller part of the overall tax burden than in the past. As a percentage of federal tax revenue, corporate taxes have fallen to 9 percent from more than 30 percent in the 1950s. Overall, corporations paid about $242 billion in federal taxes in 2012, compared to $1.1 trillion taxes paid by individual taxpayers."

It sure does, Bob. And none of it is accidental either. I believe the goal is a totally free ride.....

And, guess who gets to make up for that? Why the workers, the small business folks and the old farts, of course.

Also interesting to note that, once again, the economy was healthier when they paid in.

And the rule book to keep them that way is written by your Federal Gov't, who are paid very well to keep them that way.

Oh, me too. I'd like nothing more than to not have to deal with tax returns and all that BS. Just take a straight percentage out of my check and sales tax on the garbage I buy and leave me alone.

I guess asking the IRS to do less work is too much to ask.............ironically.
