Another shooting rampage, Santa Monica

http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/07/us/cal...man/index.html

The gunman is killed (good) so we will never know why (the bad)?

BlueStreak 06-07-2013 10:35 PM

Let me be the first to say it;

"Meh. Shit happens and people die. No, you can't have my guns."

Sounds pretty callous, doesn't it?

The shooter was just exercising is 2nd Amendment rights.:o

The gunman has not been identified by authorities, Seabrooks said. She described him as a white male between the age of 25 and 35, clad in black and wearing what appeared to be a ballistic vest. He carried a semi-automatic assault rifle, she said.
Why is it I can only think of sarcastic things to say? :(

Because it feels wrong, but somehow appropriate at the same time? I think it has something to do with these words; "...semi-automatic assault rifle.".

What's amazes me is the great sunny state of Cali with its assault weapons ban, and gun control down to requiring microstamping on firing pins somehow had this happen. How did it happen, those things are illegal there?

Because these laws weren't retroactive?

MikeG22 06-09-2013 09:57 AM

Or because they don't work?

They sure did in Australia. The trouble is that our lawmakers don't have the balls of former Australian Prime Minister John Howard.

Last time I crossed a State border I don't recall anyone inspecting my car or searching the trunk.

Which is why any ban has to be nationwide and strictly enforced.

This guy also had a long history of mental illness, starting to see a pattern here a little.

Yep. Guns are so easy to attain, even AR-15's and handguns, that even whackos have no problem getting them and spraying their surroundings indiscriminately with lead. Ah, freedom.

Exactly why better background checks are needed.......

If this pattern keeps up it's going to force this and probably force extending it to long guns as well....

Indeed, IIRC Santa Monica is not much more than a couple hours from the Az border and maybe not even that plus, Arizona is famous how little they care about responsible gun ownership.

Awaiting spin on how registering guns all guns sold is the same or worse as taking away the rights to ownership. :)

Why doesn't the rest of the country see this, Fellas?

Could it be that they simply don't want to see it?

We're stopping cows from immigrating illegally? Why would they want to come here? So they can get shot up with GMOs and growth hormones?:p

Nope, when entering CA there are check points at the border. They stop everyone and ask if you have fruits, vegetables and/or plants.......
