Is he competent?

I have never been a big Obama fan, but thought that maybe he would at least try to do his best. Now with Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS, the AP scandals I suppose for lack of a better term, is Obama seeming a somewhat incompetent? His answer for all of them seems to be "I didn't know". How can the person with access to more intelligence than any other man in the world not have a clue? If he really didn't know, then I find that a serious competency issue. Aren't the chief executives ultimately to be responsible for subordinates?
Just curious about peoples thoughts here.

finnbow 05-15-2013 08:17 PM

Seems so to me. That said, every election is the lesser of two evils and he was less evil than McCain/Palin or Romney/Ryan in the eyes of the majority of the electorate. Despite the happenings of the past week, they were probably right.

Rajoo 05-15-2013 08:28 PM

Clueless is what comes to mind first. And that definitely makes him incompetent.

Rex E. 05-15-2013 08:33 PM

Did we have any other forgetful Presidents? Maybe even one that had enough senility that he should not have been in office towards the end?

Do you think it's a reasonable possibility that the eyes of the electorate were fitted with blinders by a deceptive administration and complicit media? That's kinda what this is all about.

Oerets 05-15-2013 08:57 PM

How can anyone in their right mind even consider this argument? Really how soon we forget about the years 2001-2009?

That is my first thought reading this Barney. If Obama has a competency issue what would you call Bush Jr?

This isn't about why he got elected, and he may have been a better choice than Romney, but have a little accountability. Every president has made mistakes, but this constant denial of knowing anything is getting to be a bit much for me to swallow. I will say that pissing off the AP isn't the smartest thing for a liberal administration to do.

So that would be a "no"?

We are grading on a curve?

hillbilly 05-15-2013 09:28 PM

Isn't any president not much more than a puppet this day and age? The last two have relied on the teleprompter heavily. If they could speak what they wanted they wouldn't read from left to right and stumble trying to keep up with what they are reading, as Obama did today. Not poking fun at him, it just appears the words are not totally his own or else he wouldn't stumble. Who tells them what to say? I remember Bush relying on it too. Didn't Lincoln shout out from the balcony into the crowd using his own words?

Always. It's all relative. The best Republican and Democratic presidents in the past 30 years (Reagan, Clinton) both have some pretty dirty laundry (Iran/Contra,Lewinsky). Like it or not, you get 'em warts and all.

The difference here is that with the speed information travels today it's hard to have time to write a speech let alone memorize it.

Presidents have been reading prepared material for longer than I've been around, for sure.....

After seeing how Wall Street was never made accountable and the expanding use of drones and now the ever more expanding personal data mining by the "left". I fear we are all in for bad times no matter who is in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in the future.

It seems the Left is rolling over on their core principles of late.

We have thousands, "THOUSANDS" dead because of made up lies. Billions, "BILLIONS" gone forever but all now lands on this Presidents door steps. Jeez .....

You expected god as a chief executive, Marc? Show me any organization where the head dude knows what is going on at every level. It sounds like your holding this one to an unobtainable level of competency.

Rajoo 05-15-2013 10:39 PM

I concede that Obama inherited two wars and a shattered economy. So he got a free pass in his first term except from the far right. What expectations do we have from his second term?

Unless the Dems take the house and increase their senate seats to 60 in '14, not too much unfortunately. Lot's of purpleish red states are going blue due to the repubs being the anti Latino party.

Rajoo 05-15-2013 11:22 PM

Regardless he does seem not want to go beyond making speeches.

bobabode 05-15-2013 11:27 PM

Not much he can do with the Republicant party blocking every damn thing. I hope he keeps politicking non stop till Nov. '14.:)

You do know that a pass everything congress leads to a banana republic. :D

icenine 05-15-2013 11:58 PM

You guys do not understand leadership....sometimes it is not what you do but what you don't do. Obama did not start a war with false intelligence and leave behind 5000 souls in Iraq ....and for what ? that mess that is in charge over in Iraq now?

Benghazi is done....nothing there except an anti-smoking gun email released today
This IRS thing will go away and it is already evident that some liberal groups were asked the same fucking questions

same for the fbi probe....Obama just comes out looking harder on terrorism that is all

ill take a failing Obama any day over some Tea Bagger morons bent on destroying the country through tearing down the social safety net. I welcome their hatred.....
I hope they get to hate Obama for the next three years and then Hillary and Martinez afterwards

Even if the Dems had a two thirds majority it would still be like herding cats to get anything revolutionary passed.;)

I prefer mangoes and ganja, Rajoo.:D

hillbilly 05-16-2013 01:40 AM

He did have alot on the plate when he took office and still does. And add a goofball in NK wanting to nuke the US, 3 shootings, a bombing, a major storm, etc.. with everyone looking towards him for fixes and future preventions. Shit, rightwing or left... I wouldn't want the job as president knowing a presidents hands are tied. You can make promises to the people, but once your in office those promises can only be carried out if they relax the puppet strings.

BlueStreak 05-16-2013 06:30 AM

So, what connection do the Bengazi, the IRS and AP scandals have with the president?

About the most sensible thing I've read yet, today.

Thanks, Dave.

It's OK to be black if you're a black Teabaggin' Uncle Tom (Herman Cain, Allen West). Otherwise, you're considered a foreign-born, anti-American, Muslim soci@list.

I see this is devolving into a right-is-racist theme.

Condi is fine.

Ever meet a black conservative?

Not one who was wasn't either a Teabaggin' Uncle Tom or willing to be walked all over by the GOP (Rice, Powell).

piece-itpete 05-16-2013 01:06 PM

I think calling a black guy an Uncle Tom is awful...
