A lot of Toyotas and Hondas on that list.

Dave

piece-itpete 05-06-2013 01:13 PM

I was glad to see it :D

Chrysler and Ford products don't seem to do any better.

merrylander 05-06-2013 01:49 PM

Note that it was one Ford model, the Exploder. Rest of them were better. That GM Tril Blazer did not last long, strange looking vehicle.

Honda probably suffered because of their Reynolds Wrap bodies.

icenine 05-06-2013 01:52 PM

I do not believe it......
if Toyota and Honda are on the list it is because of being forced to go to the dealer because of the check engine light failures which are usually (always) connected to the emission control systems. I have been running on bad cat code on my CRV for 4 years (it goes on and off...I wait for it to go off and then drive 30 miles and then smog it)...

that aside I think they are probably high on the list because so many are sold. My Honda Civic went to 289,000 and my Honda CRV is at 242,000. Minor repairs have to be done...

piece-itpete 05-06-2013 02:03 PM

It appears 01 and 06 for Civics.

"The 20 worst vehicles are shown below, ranked using our PainRank™ algorithm that factors in average mileage at failure, cost to fix & repair, relative complaints analysis, & owners' ranking."

Rob I've heard many mentions of the Explorer as the 'Exploder' :)

Oh Hondas are not that bad, just don't hit anyhing. Lady hit my Ford with her Civic - $265 for the Ford, they had the Civic up to $1400 and were still counting.

I thought you rode with the General.

And now you admit that your poor wife drives a Ford (Fucking Old Rebuilt Dodge)?

You're a cold man.

Who's got the popcorn?:)

bobabode 05-06-2013 07:11 PM

Right chere, heh, heh.http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/ima...ilies/lurk.gif

I guess my '97 F250 Superduty was a POS after all;). 277k and never had a problem, other than the occasional numbnutz who pulled out in front of me:rolleyes:.

icenine 05-06-2013 07:17 PM

74 Ford Maverick about 135,000 when I drove her to the junkyard in 1985
93 Ford Ranger with about 155,000 miles on it when I sold it (gave it away) in 2004

135,000 is a ton of miles back in Ohio.

JJIII 05-07-2013 06:00 AM

I had a '66 Mustang GT that I sold with 135,000 miles on it that would still chirp the tires going into 4th. The valve covers had never been off, but I did have to put a clutch in it.

Are you quoting Fox News?

Interesting in that all but one model was made when GB was president and no wonder Obama had to bail out the auto industry. Now I am all for the bail out. :D

I gave the Ford to the Sally Ann with 135,000 on it. Our garage has his and hers Chevy Impala LSs in it. Blue for me burgundy for her. Bring any of those riceburners around and she will be happy to give you driving lessons.:)

icenine 05-07-2013 10:30 AM

Ok you have to drive a 10 year old car through a stretch of desert in a post-apocalyptic nuclear landscape....and if you get stranded the mutants eat you alive. I am taking the Honda or Toyota....

piece-itpete 05-07-2013 10:38 AM

I'd take an old F150 with the mighty 300, stick.

It might be a rebuild Dodge but it's pretty reliable :D

No problemo in my old F250. It had dual tanks for that 5.8L V8 and those mutant zombies squish real nice under 16" wheels.

MikeG22 05-07-2013 06:35 PM

Sure that list isn't biased, there is not one German car on there. I've seen how reliable those strudel wagons are and think they should be toward the top of the dump pile. You want real life reviews goto edmunds and read the owner reviews.

budgetaudio6 05-14-2013 04:27 AM

Where is the 97 monte carlo? Doesnt have front towing hooks. so that makes it the most reliable car ever! been reliable in cleaning me out! sit! :D

piece-itpete 06-13-2013 10:21 AM

I nominate the rental I am currently driving, a Nissan Versa.

I owned a 96 Metro sedan for 9 years, and I strongly dislike this car.

Pete

BlueStreak 06-15-2013 03:09 PM

Then there is the Nissan Cube. I have no idea how it drives as I've never driven one. But, it looks like a toaster on wheels. I keep envisioning giant slices of toast popping out of the roof, when I see one.

Dave

BlueStreak 06-15-2013 03:16 PM

Then, there is the Nissan Juke. WTF is THAT all about? I think the designers over in Japan are on an acid trip. It looks like a '61 Chrysler impregnated a Halibut and spawned that POS.

Dave

Charles 06-15-2013 07:46 PM

Three of the five I currently own.

They've ganged up on me with multiple POD (planned obsolescence device) failures. One of them even had a MIT (most inopportune time) failure as well.

At least I haven't had to walk home.

Chas

Zeke 06-16-2013 02:37 AM

1996 Chrysler Cirrus.

Mitsubishi six cylinder with ~175K miles.

The body will disintegrate around this engine.

Mr. Lin 07-21-2013 03:16 PM

I don't buy the Honda thing at all, I smell an agenda. The Accord is the number 2 worst car? Uh huh.

bobabode 07-21-2013 04:28 PM

I get a loupy grin every time I see one of those new Fiats tooling around here. They oughta call them Specks. I have a suspicion that they auto crush on impact back into the Budweiser beer cans they are made of.

Gimme a Ford over any GM truck.

ROTFLMAO!!!

My S-10 got over 28 mpg last tank btw ;) My old F150 got 10

Yeah, I know, apples and oranges. Couldn't resist. And why are you profiling vehicles this way? :p

No fair counting mileage while hooked up to a tow truck.:D

piece-itpete 07-22-2013 11:13 AM

LOL!

My coworker's had some trouble with his later model base Chevy full size, and my one bud recently was happy to see his go. It did give him trouble. He HAD to buy a toy yoda though  And on a gov't pension to boot!

My neighbor just past 220k in his 89 Chevy 1/2 ton (305 auto) but she's a-rusting badly and the rear's going.

Pete

bobabode 07-22-2013 11:47 AM

Sounds like my missus.

most cars on the road today are dog shit. they are designed to run for 5-10 years and fall apart. simple as that. the best way to tell if a car is a piece of shit is to think about cars from the late 1990s-early2000s and look at how many are still on the road now. one thing is for sure, cars out of japan are not what they used to be. Honda civics/accords Toyota corolla/camry etc, 20 years ago the Toyota corolla and the Honda accord were some of the most solid, well built, over engineered, reliable cars on the planet. they litrally ran forever, why do you think cash for clunkers was REALLY created? to take these old cars off the road, so we would be forced to buy pieces of shit that brake in 5 years!!

worst late model cars I have had personal experience with.

2008-2009 huyndai accent
buddy of mine got one during the cash for clunkers program, he takes care of his cars, but yet after only about 4 years, its blown the head gasket twice, has had two alternators, the AC went out, the engine is already knocking and burning oil, the paint is already burning off of it, and the interior already looks like a 25 year old worn out ford.

2005-2008 Chrysler 300c
these cars were pretty when they came out but already look dated and stupid, the interiors are VERY cheap, almost everyone I know that has one has had all types of electrical problems and transmission problems.

2013 Toyota corolla.
this was extremely sad for me to see. the corolla used to be a tin can but it was bulletproof! the interior didn't have a cheap feel to it, and they ran forever. the new 2013 corolla is underpowered, and is so chinsey, I was sitting in the back seat of one and put my elbow clean threw the rear door armrest with next to no force.

2013 lexus es350 & 2006 GS300
lexus really made a name for themselves in the early 90s, they overengineered there cars, they were SUPER reliable, rock solid, fast/fun to drive and very comfterble, not so anymore. lexus stoped giving a crap around 2003 and it really shows. my boss has a 06 GS300 and he has already blown the tranny, replaced the starter twice, alternator, struts, head gasket etc etc and the car is only what? 8 years old? -pathetic. I drive a 1995 Ls400 back from when lexus was still trying to make a name for themselves and its a damn good very solid car, I recently had mine in for service and got a ES350 as a loner. wow what a cheap piece of trash! everything felt flimsy, had a clunky transmission, already had wear on the seats and controls, it had a frighteningly scary amount of torque understeer, and was just all around crap.

what im really interested in is to see all these new cars as they get old and decrepit, it will be interesting to see how many 2012 dodge chargers, huyndai equuses and sonatas, Nissan maximas, and lexuses will still be on the roads in 2025..

piece-itpete 09-17-2013 11:09 AM

I agree, how on earth can you rebuilt an electrical system with a 4" dia harness?

Pete

merrylander 09-17-2013 01:46 PM

There are two year 2000 Chev Impala LSs is the garage here that say you are talking through your hat.

Buy a new harness from J. C. Whitney.

That's when the fun starts.

Since 1998 I've had two Toyota Tacoma's and now a Honda Accord.

Loved all three, I doubt I'll ever own anything but a Honda or a Toyota in the future.

J. C. Whitney!

That brings back memories!

Buying after market stuff from them to try to keep my old piece of shit clunkers running during my young and broke days.

I haven't bought anything from J.C. Whitney since the 70's.

Are they still in business?

donquixote99 10-29-2013 09:30 AM

Interestingly, the new Consumer's Reports rankings out today downgrade some Japanese (or Japanese/American) cars. For the first time is a jillion years, some Europeans and a GM marque (GMC) crack the top ten.

The 6-cylinder Accords take it on the chin. Seems lots of folks have trouble with the cabin electronics.
