Ten weird cars
|
The Mercedes-Benz "Count Trossi" SSK is a gorgeous ride. It was on display in the Chrysler Tech Center for a while just outside of my lab. It has a supercharged straight six that sounds lovely. Engineers came out of their offices whenever it ran.

I'd roll it!
Some 28" spinners, big metal wing on the back, 24" diameter muffler, 1 tweeter and 11 subwoofers, could be nice ;) Pete |

LOL!!

I wonder what the purpose is for the one that looks like a de-winged jetliner. Are there living quarters inside; is it a tank truck?
FLAC ought to be happy that the list includes some fuel cell vehicles. Regards, D-Ray |

That funky semi was featured on TV a few years ago.
During the 1980s I was a research tech on the Eaton Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) program. We broke the 8 MPG barrier with that. If the funky semi owner's claims are true then it should get 12 MPG under ideal conditions. That's great fuel mileage for a semi. |
I suppose steering with a joystick would be natural for a generation brought up on video games. I'm not sure how well my muscle memory would adapt.

Just be playing Nervous Norvus while you're 'driving', you'll be fine :)
Eb that's pretty neat. I found a cliam that we used 64,323,336,000 gallons of diesel in 07, a 50% increase in efficiency would be a 30% reduction (brain worky?), so we'd save 21+ BILLION gallons of fuel?? That's got to be a lot of the evil CO2. Pete |
The tech that sat across from me at Eaton built the first Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) that the military now uses. That was a fun program, too. He got to ride around in Humvees when they first came out and I got to ride around in semis that shifted themselves. Those were good times.
The other big program at the time was the Supercharger for the Ford Thunderbird. Those guys left a lot a burned rubber in the parking lots. :D |

It is a little weird to include the 1930 Mercedes. It is slightly more radical design than other roadsters of that era that had similar lines. Just one example:

That Colani designed truck is GORGEOUS!
