SF Giants Parade
|
Now that is something we can really get behind! Just forget all the other bullshit going on in the world and put all your attention on this crap!
Pro sports can take a hike! |
Isn't there a yearly Halloween parade in SF too?
(or maybe I'm thinking of the gay rights parade.... ) |

IIRC, they just call it Pride Parade these days or close to it. They used to do an annual candlelight walk from Harvey Milk's camera shop to city hall. Have no clue if they do it anymore. They used to have a large Halloween thing but people shooting people ended that.

Oh shit! It's Halloween. Thanks for reminding me. I need to turn all the lights off and hide in the back of the house. Hopefully, the little angels will not damage my yard or vehicles. Since I'm up late, I'll be listening and watching for the larger more destructive teenagers.

A tip of the cap is due to the Giants, they certainly kicked the Tigers asses.

There is much reduced baseball talk in this big city since the Yankee October failure. The most hated man......A Rod.
The Yankees players were stunned, bewildered when their fans booed them. they suggested that the booing contributed significantly to their failure to hit. Whiners! Frankly, without the Yanks there is a feeling of diminished interest countrywide. |
Yankees have the largest fan base I'm sure. They have won more than their fair share of World Series too. F Arod, for that kind of money you show up to work on time and sober and do not bite the hand that feeds you.

I'm not picking on baseball. I include all the major ball sports (and hockey too). People die, property is destroyed, etc. all for a few numbers on a scoreboard. Meanwhile, we are all getting the shaft no matter who is in office. Where is the sense in that? |

And bearing that in mind, I need to withdraw from Political Chat once again, before I once again become addicted to it. I really do have more pressing concerns than cheering for the home team. Chas |

The ballpark announcer did ask for cash donations for the east coasters when she was up there. The Giants players are going to make their cashcontributions and the organization is going to match them all. I have seen my electrical utility worker uniforms in pictures of guys working on restoring electricity. Not much else we can do from here. Even Bruce is doing a concert. Carl |
Way off topic, much of the parade route 106 years ago. Looks better full screen.

Now what I do not understand is this NY marathon being run on Sun.? All those people and no infrastructure. They can't even get garbage bags off the street and they want bring in porta potties and an create an even greater amount of garbage. There must be a bit of news I do not know about is all I can figure.

I'm sure the motivation is to convey the sense that things in NYC are returning to normal. Whether, under the circumstances, that's a good idea? Well, we'll see. John |

Great news, maybe he will give the generators, tents, and such to those that actually need them to survive.

I'm sure that the mayor thought that the symbolism of going forward with a big event and showing that New Yorkers know how to "buck up" had much to do with initial decision. Perhaps he thought that the city could use the influx of money that the event entails. But when it got down to considering the logistics of running the event, and the diversion of resources, it was a good idea to change the plan.
