He'll never show up for a give-and-take with anyone other than the sycophants at Faux.

It would seem that Obama's appearance on the Daily Show last night turned out to be "less than optimal" for him. His depths of callousness never cease to shock.

So, Rush didn't like it, right?

I agree. I just watched it on Hulu. I think the President was in great form. Only someone predisposed against him could think otherwise.

I just watched it. I think the President summed it up very nicely in his closing remark.

Really, Mezz, I want to know why you said the above. Did you watch it? If you did, what did you find "less than optimal"? If you didn't watch it, whose opinion are you relying on for your information?

Tell that to her...

"mother of slain diplomat Sean Smith, is among those who found Obama’s comments to be insensitive.

Speaking from her home in San Diego, Mrs. Smith, 72, continued: ‘It’s insensitive to say my son is not very optimal – he is also very dead. I’ve not been “optimal” since he died and the past few weeks have been pure hell.

‘I am still waiting for the truth to come out and I still want to know the truth. I’m finally starting to get some answers but I won’t give up.

‘There’s a lot of stupid things that have been said about my son and what happened and this is another one of them.’
"

Doesn't matter what the grieving Mom thinks JBS, someone will be along here in a minute to explain that she's a shill for Fox News.
They're just as cold as they are pathetic.

Tell that to her...

Quote:

On the campaign trail, Mitt Romney has been telling a story about his chance encounter with former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty at a Christmas party three or four years ago. Doherty was among four Americans killed during terrorists attacks in Libya, including on the American diplomatic post. Romney's voice audibly thickens with emotion as he ties Doherty's death to what he sees as Obama's failed foreign policies. Other GOP leaders have taken up the charge, accusing Obama of botching the U.S. response to the attacks and downplaying al Qaeda's role.

Barbara Doherty, the former SEAL's mother, ordered Romney to stop talking about her son.

"I don't trust Romney. He shouldn't make my son's death part of his political agenda. It's wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama,"
she told media outlets in Boston.

You use quotation marks, but you don't identify a source for your quotations. Therefore, we have no context for her remarks.

I watched the interview and do have context for the President's remark. He did not say that the Ambassador was not optimal. (Indeed, the comments about the Ambassador have been nothing but positive.) Obama was responding to a question from Stewart which used the word "optimal" in asking about the manner in which information about the attack came out. Obama's response was that what happened at the compound was not optimal - i.e. it was not a result that he wanted.

I have seen people twist things totally out of shape in my 81 years, but the pretzel job JBS and Wass have done on the President's remarks defies all comprehension. You had better pray that they do not make English the official language.

Being cold and pathetic, I was just about to make that very point. Your post saved me from a major embarrassment. Thanks.

I do have a few things to say, though. First, there is no indication of whether Mrs. Smith saw the interview. The edited clip on the Daily Mail website begins with the President's answer but fails to reveal the question he was answering. It then jumps to a jokey exchange with Stewart which actually occurred at the very beginning of the interview. The clear intent is to reinforce the Daily Mail's "narrative" that the President isn't really taking this tragedy very seriously.

Second, just as with the President's response, the actual question she was asked by the Daily Mail reporter isn't disclosed. Her response is a little off-kilter unless she was asked something like, "President Obama said yesterday that the killing of your son wasn't 'optimal'. How do feel about that?"

Frankly, it's pretty easy to manipulate grief in that way and the Daily Mail is far from averse to doing things like that. It's a disgusting, sensational, scandal mongering rag of a British tabloid. It's also VERY right wing.

The wing wankers are getting all tumescent over a single phrase from the President's appearance on The Daily Show. It's even more juvenile and contrived than their usual idiocy.

The fools can't even get it right. The internet is full of "less than optimal", parroting a headline in the Moonie Times, but that's not what the President said. They also omit the entire context of the statement.

Here is the entire statement and the question to which it was a response. See if you find anything..... anything wrong with what the President said.

John

BlueStreak 10-20-2012 03:32 PM

Yeah, just watched the interview.......So what? He admits that his administrations response was "less than optimal" and the party of childish whiners throws a temper tantrum.................Over what?

John, the election draws near and their asshat candidate still stands a very real chance of LOSING. That's what this is all about. Remember all of the screaming, crying, soiling of diapers after the 2008 election? You aint seen nothing yet. If they lose this one and don't get their teabagger fantasy world pacifier to suck on, the spoiled little piglet tantrums will be out of control and even more ridiculous than ever before.

Dave

The thing is, Stewart used the term "optimal" in the question. President Obama simply repeated the word in his answer but that's enough to send these idiots into orbit.

Bull chit Dave... What he said...

“Here’s what I’ll say. When four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal. We’re going to fix it. All of it,”

His words... :p

WTF, why was he on a show like this with just weeks before an election..? Stupid.

dmax99 10-20-2012 10:31 PM

Does JBS... stand for "Just Bull Shit".What show should've he been on,Bill O'Reilly's.you guys are trying to make this a bigger issue than the Iraqi war where thousands of lives were lost & trillions of dollars were spent.

Actually no, links are your friend when you quote from copyrighted material. The rules of this board provide:

More than just the rules of the board, failing to provide citations affects one's credibility, and it detracts from useful context that will give meaning to the material posted.

SO-WHAT? Obviously, the security at the consulate WASN'T--"optimal".

Christ, the guy can't even admit to a failure without being excoriated by you guys----for the manner in which he does so. All this serves to do is demonstrate how just how PATHETIC y'all have become.
THERE IS NOTHING THERE TO BE OUTRAGED ABOUT.

To answer your question;

It's called "campaigning". And, I'm sure you'd like nothing more that to have him to stop getting in front of cameras and talking to the people.

P.s. I find it interesting to have a teabagger accuse ANYONE else of believing "bullchit". Your ENTIRE belief system is built on nothing but fairytales and bullchit, IMHO.:p

I quoted the mother and gave her credit... Did she copyright it...?

Alot of news organization stated the same quote without stating what organization did the original interview... Hmmm, wonder why.

would you have to put links and give credit to the original interviewer for these...

Todd Beamer on Sept. 11, 2001 said "Let's roll."

Rodney King, said "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along?"
