".......or do you think its a bunch of crap some paranoid tin foil hat peeps that crack there blinds at the sound of a bump in the night made up?"

No, I think it's a bunch of crap highly educated and intelligent Republican strategists and pundits dreamed up to compel the stupid and the gullible into the voting boths......as those who stand to benefit handsomely from it standby and watch with amused delight.

Dave

There are conspiracy theorists and then there are conspiracy theorists.

I don't care, I have my plastic Jesus.

I like the incorrect lyrics I learned when I was a kid better.

(I don't care if it rains or freezes...long as I got my plastic Jesus..sittin on the dashboard of my car. Magnetic Mary has got to go...she's fucking up my radio...sitting on the dashboard of my car.):D

I'm going to go to bed and set my alarm for 5:45am as always, hit snooze once & get up at 6 and walk outside and feed the horses and other animals. Thats exactly what I do every morning rain, snow or shine.. and yes.. even on doomsday predictions. This isn't the first time nutjobs have either cried the end is on such & such day, or else we'll see panic in the streets, or the P.O.T.U.S. is gonna enact martial law, or a big rock is gonna fall out of the sky and the dust cloud from impact is gonna kill us all, etc. Everyone wakes up to find none of the above happened.. so why would anyone keep buying into that same ole cry wolf shit.

Because people they "trust" keep pushing it at them, either for money or votes. That, and every now and again the wolf actually shows up. (Hitler is a good example.)

My questions is; What is the point in worrying about doomsday, anyways? If the sun explodes, or an asteroid slams into the earth.......what can you do but die or deal with it? And, I'm one that believes many unfortunate human events sometimes arise out of conditions and situations that already exist and have come to a head anyways. This is why we have so many problems that remain unresolved that probably never will be resolved.

Does that make any sense?

Regards,
Dave

"die or deal with it?"

Tell me sire, is that an either/or question?

And, I'm one that believes many unfortunate human events sometimes arise out of conditions and situations that already exist and have come to a head anyways.

Inasmuch as our natures haven't changed I don't see that the human condition has changed. The difference is that "Full scale all out war (WW2)" left most countries untouched. Now if someone truly fucks up we'll all be torched.

I just hope you don't make a run for the Canadian border.

I'm hoping we are better at turning them away then we used to be. Sure were lots of them up here in the 70's.

mpholland 10-28-2012 04:34 PM

Probably easier for you guys to come down here now than vice-versa.

We take lots more immigrants per capita, then you folks do. More refugees too, last time I checked.

Then again, if Romney wins, we might get tons more economic refugees from south of the border in the coming years. :)

I think it's actually the reverse. HS and ICE are a hell of a lot more interested in who's coming in than who's leaving.

It was before 9/11.

Friggin Mounties tore my car apart when I went to Vancouver. Like anybody smuggles stuff into Canada. Coming back into the U.S. there was just a guard standing there waving everyone in. This was pre 9/11 though

Canadian customs are worried about booze and firearms. Coming back into the US is fine for a US citizen. For a non-US citizen, not so much.

I haven't crossed into Canada since a few months before 9/11 but I always found Canada customs to be a snap going in and even easier going out. On the other hand, I've been hassled by US customs both ways.

Well.. having hair halfway down my back, a sweet beard, sandals and a Phish tie-dye on might have tipped them off that guns were not the case and booze would have been hard to hide. I figured they thought it was drugs by looking at us.
Sure wish I had bought a few pounds of BC Bud as I never had to stop on the way back to Seattle.
