GOP Wins the Contest for Number of God References in their Platform
"The Democratic Party’s platform makes no reference to God, drawing criticism from Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan.
Ryan tells Fox News’ ”Fox & Friends” the change is not in keeping with the country’s founding documents and principles and suggests the Obama administration is behind the decision. The Republican platform mentions God 12 times." http://www.washingtonpost.com/nation...849_story.html I wouldn't be surprised if the RNC were to next announce a survey of the number of attendees wearing American flag lapel pins at both conventions. |
We win!

Already resorting to pettiness.
Name dropping will get them nowhere. They have to prove they actually live by those tenets. And most of them are seriously lacking in that regard. |
If there is a real christian in that crowd he/she is invisible.

The cave-in/flip-flop is far more embarrassing than the ommission (which would have been rather easy to defend in my opinion).

from the rules of the board posted by Grumpy. What part of this do you not understand Mezz? I'm not really surprised that you came back, you just can't help yourself. You have thoroughly discredited yourself. Let me disabuse you of any notion that I will engage in any conversation with you at all, it will not happen. My only direct reply in the future will be "-///" which means you are not worth the keystrokes. The quotation marks are commentary on your character. In closing, do yourself a big favor and find another forum where they aren't aware of your shortcomings. |
You're pretty amusing there boobabode. I'd bet more than I've got riding on Obama losing this election now (and that's a pretty sure bet these days) that you'll not last a day posting your infantile hieroglyphics rather than responding to my posts as I'm quite certain that your fortitude is at least as weak as most other areas of your dismally flawed worldview and stunted intellect as have relvealed themselves here over time.
I'm guessing that your mysterious genius will indeed divulge itself in the form of approximately three days worth of posts/responses conveying how you intend not to respond to me ever again. |

Here's some truth- about half of that delegation wants God erased from our government. Some, I'm sure, because they are atheist. Some, because they are Muslim and therefore don't buy in to the concept of religious tolerance. And some, because they truly believe it's wrong for our government to promote one faith over another. Personally, none of those arguments wash for me. I've spent my life pledging allegiance to a flag that represents "one nation under God". Have all these people been reciting that pledge falsely? What do they propose allegiance to? Anything? Worship whatever you want, or nothing at all, but this country was and is oriented to Biblical values. Obama wants to fundamentally change America. Well, it don't get much more fundamental than our Christian heritage. |

Also, why did they put this in the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797, a treaty which was unanimously ratified by Congress and signed by President John Adams, one of the Nation's founders: As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries. Btw Wasilla, hasn't it been bludgeoned into your head enough to KNOW that we were an athiest nation?
Or maybe Muslim ;) Pete |
Heah, I never mentioned how long "under God" had been there, other than to say it's been my whole life.
If it was just to differentiate us from the commies, we probably don't need it any more, huh? I'm not too worried. If you can't get God out of your convention, fat chance you'll get it removed from the pledge, or the currency, or the federal buildings. |
Maybe scrape it off Jeffersons' monument :)

Wondering what you limited government advocates would think of some bureaucrat writing official prayers?

That's one of my brandywine tomatoes from the greenhouse. A little over 1.5lbs
I got tomatoes and cukes coming out my ears right now. Traded a big bag of them for some moose pepperoni sticks last night. |
