So what's your favorite cuppa joe?

No tea sippers need respond!:D

Many thanks to Bluestreak for my latest!
Kauai Teaberry Estate in a can from Trader Joes. Now I have a place for all of those loose signal tubes. I have a few old Folgers and Chock Full o' Nuts cans that I rescued from Gramps place after he went to his reward that I use for hand tool caddys. So, these new cans have good company! Thanks again Dave!:)

A couple times a year we order beans from this small dealer.

http://www.sweetmarias.com/index.php

I don't know all the different kinds of beans but we have never been disappointed. We tried roasting our own and that was fun, too. It also yielded the best tasting coffee. The trade off is that roasting is somewhat messy and makes a good bit of smoke.

We buy 3 pound bags of Kirkland Columbian Supremo whole bean coffee from Costco. Very decent for the price.

That one has been the staple around here for many a moon Pat. It'll continue to be for the reason you mentioned. No better deal to be had as far as we can see.

I must warn you, my old lady is going to be cursing your family going back generations as I've never even considered this before. Who would've thunk of repurposing a hot air popcorn popper? Thanks eBacon and consider yerself cursed by a sweet Connecticut yankee gal of Irish extraction...;)
You'll be in good company BTW.:D

I'm with Eight O'clock whole bean regular. Grind it fresh each morning; take mine black, 51%-of-the-vote takes hers with a touch of 1% milk.

Whole bean Columbian Supremo from Gevalia. Once a year they send their Royal Vinter blend, usually just before December.

It's not Starbucks.

I am, fairly easy to please with respect to coffee. The one I have actually been enjoying the most is the generic brand from one of the local stores: Best Choice Columbian Expresso Dark Blend.

Regards,

D-Ray

Oh, okay.

I have seen our product in a sad state (Dented cans) on the store shelf and taken a picture of it with my cell. Sent the photo in to work.

They sent someone in the company van to pull the ugly merchandise off the shelves and replace it. Now, that was local. Not sure how they would do long distance.

BP as in "Beyond Petroleum"? I don't buy a damn thing from them. Never will.

My favorite is:

However, for daily drinking I like Costco's Sumatra or the San Francisco brand French Roast. There is one brand at Costco that was so bad I returned it after a couple of pots. It had a straw colored bag—it was horrible.

What was the coffee Bluestreak suggested?

bobabode 08-20-2012 11:24 PM

Kauai Peaberry Estate. It's sold out of Trader Joes. It's not a french roast. I think it says medium roast on the can. I'm curious about eBacon's idea of buying green beans and running them thru a hot air popcorn popper. It looks real simple and my smoke alarms could probably use a workout.

Caffeine and I don't agree. I can get little itty bitty cans (7oz.?) of Pepsi here and even one of those gives me the shakes.

I just bought a can. It is a medium roast and is quite flavorful. I noticed TJ's labels it as limited availability. The beans are nice and small just like the expensive stuff I listed earlier and it has low acidity. Overall, I'm very satisfied with it. I've only tried it dripped, but later I'll try it in the French press.

BlueStreak 08-24-2012 08:27 PM

The peaberry is the smaller, not quite fully developed beans from each bunch. Ordinarily they are simply roasted and ground with all the other beans. These are separated out prior to processing. They have lower acidity because they haven't had the chance to over-ripen. Great stuff.

Thanks for checking it out, Fellas!

It's now a blend of the Peaberry and Colombian Supremo here. A little bit too roasty by itself for our taste. But then we have a peasants palate when comes to coffee, I even blended some 100% Blue Mountain that someone sent me with that Costco C.S. in the 3lb. bag. I don't know if those Ja. beans were old or what but the taste was bland and cut a little harshness off the top of the C.S.
Dondillion is gonna kill me....;)
