RIP Andy Griffith

You will be missed by Millions of people who watched your movies, TV shows, and listened to your gospel music.

I will never forget how hard I laughed the first time I watched the movie "No Time for Sergeants". "A Face in the Crowd" is also a very good movie. "Matlock" what can I say? The Andy Griffith show taught a generation what good morals and family values is all about. I hope Aunt Bea, Goober, and Barney are greeting you in heaven right now.

I rarely get a tear in my eye, but I did today. Thanks for the memories.

Did you ever hear his bit on "what it was was football?" I can't see a can of orange soda without thinking of him getting a "big orange drink."

Regards,

D-Ray

Yes! People seem not to remember that Andy Griffith started out as a stand-up comedian. [EDIT] Really, a "monologist".

You guys got to look this one up if it's out there. I happened to hit 'Make room for Daddy' station flipping and lo and behold - the whole show was set in pre-Griffith show Mayberry!

Andy was very much the standup and did great ad libbing with Danny Thomas. Good stuff.

When Andy spit in the opened back of that radio and it came on I thought I'd split a gut. I always enjoyed his humor.

RIP and thank you for all the smiles and laughter, Andy.

Didn't Danny Thomas produce the Andy Griffith Show? (I think the "Mayberry RFD" name was for the syndicated re-runs.) If so, I'd guess Andy was one of the first "spin-offs".

You Wingnuts Are Going To Hate This!

One of the last things Andy Griffith did was this commercial supporting the Affordable Care Act.

Who'd a thunk it! Sheriff Taylor was a liberal! ::D

I didn't know that John. I checked Wiki,

you were right. Then he had to screw it up and get all political :)

Thomas' co-executive producer was Sheldon Leonard. He produced a ton of the early greats. Most famous was probably "I Spy". Leonard actually started out as a character actor, playing really creepy "heavies". He was good at that too.

Good God, I'm getting old. I remember him well and you're right, John. He was really good in those roles.
