A good day

The blue rug juniper under the weeping cherry has died. I was about to order a bunch more but the young woman at the nursery told me it is not a shade plant and would likely die in a year or two.

So we looked at Pachysandra and vinca minor (Perrywinkle). well the Pachysandra stays green all year while the Perrywinkle does not. So I got 100 Pachysandra for under the weeping cherry and also got 50 Perrywinkle for under another tree that overls shade everything. Saw some ferns while I was at the Nursery so I picked two of them for the grove.

Got home and watered the new Dogwood as well as all the Norway Spruce we put in last year. Sat down and had a chat with Sam Adams and now it is time to hit the showers.

BTW Sam made more sense than many of the posts here.:p

I spent the better part of the morning trying to relocate a new hot water
heater under the house along with another trip to lowes. Lots of piping
and some wiring involved but with the money I save diy maybe I can
upgrade my preamp from a 3300 to a 3800.

Yes, a good day indeed!

My new Bottlehead kit has arrived.

If you gentlemen will excuse me, I have something more important to attend to..........

Well...yes it is a good day! We returned from a lovely dinner celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary and will soon be on our way to watch the Walenda walk across the "Mighty Niagara". Be sure to watch and see one of the most beautiful wonders in the world! A blessed fathers day to all!

Conratulations on the double nickel Painter! May you have many, many more! Are you going to be at Niagra for the event?

barbara 06-15-2012 07:28 PM

Indeed Painter, That's an amazing accomplishment.

My wife has put up with me for 37 years so far :) I just don't know how much longer she will keep putting up with me :(

Awesome! That is great and I wish you many, many more!

My folks made it to 64 years.

Just keep working at it Bill. Remember that dishing up a bit of your mushy side will go a long ways towards marital bliss.:)

Just remember that Hi-C no longer sells Ecto Cooler so be alert to refreshing green fluorescent drinks appearing. All joking aside, congratulations on your 37 years.

Congratulations on the 55! Where did you originally meet? We've heard Merrylander's neat story about meeting Florence so perhaps you'd share.

painter 06-16-2012 09:23 PM

Thank all of you for your good wishes on our special day!
We have been blessed. Though we face challenges ahead...we have each other to weather the storm.

Blessings to you and yours.

Congrats! Is a good day indeed!

So me and BBill both celebrated 37 years of bliss. We do have things in common.

Hope to be able to enjoy my 55th someday.

It will be 29 for Florence and me come October 29th, but we got a late start.

merrylander 06-23-2012 01:55 PM

So all the dead Blue Rug Juniper under the weeping cherry has been replaced with Pachysandra. The bare spot at the top of the drive has been covered with Perrywinkle.

Unfortunately the cable people chose to shortcut through that spot and the cable got cut. Florence called and was told someone would be here Tuesday to see if it was cut and if so it would be fixed Wednesday or Thursday.

Well you don't dick with an old telephone man like that so I spliced it. Works like a charm and will do till they can get the finger out.

The original run was down the edge of the driveway and they were told that was where the caable was. I guess the shortcut saved them all of 20 feet of cable.

Picked up four Golden Juniper as I did not prune the previous lot soon enough and it has taken over half the sidewalk. This time I will get right on it before it spreads so much.

I just hope that it is all as deer resistant as the nursery said, those white tail lawn rats have cost us a bunch over the years.
