The "War on Women"
Whose really waging it?
Now that the race is essentially down to two, the Obama camp's desperation to deflect from his record of failure is starting to churn up some very interesting (in a freakishly disturbing sort of way) strategies. Never mind the war on whitey (that's for another thread), Obama and company have lately been accusing Romney of waging a war on women. Aren't liberals ever shocked by their own levels of hypocrisy?!? The ad hominem attacks on Sarah Palin put forth by liberals since day one, besides being disgusting and mean spirited to the point of being embarrassing to any proud American, negated any claims liberals may try to assert as respecting of women or defenders of women's rights. Reminiscent of the Teresa Heinz-Kerry's elistist attacks on one of America's most popular and well liked first ladies for being a stay-at-home mom and a one time librarian, here's an Obama advisor throwing two hypocrisy stones (the "war on women" one, and the "family is off limits one") at once by attacking Ann Romney's right to have an opinion on the economy because she's "never worked a day in her life!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vrE7DG1OWc Still pondering why people are saying things like: "There are only two basic kinds of liberal democrats - the hypocrits and the stupid"? |

Agreed bone headed! But please, please let's get away from these WAR terms.

All I want to know is this;
Just what in the heck is a "Unisexual"? And how do these perverts get away with having exclusive barbershops? It aint right! Dave |

No. Sarah was an embarrassment to any proud american. The GOP powers that be have as much as admitted it. |
I'm declaring a "War on-War on ____".

It is in bad taste to make those kind of comments of the immediate family of any candidate. Wiki sez she has MS and that can be tough and debilitating. Well actually it is tough and debilitating.
That said their family is L33T and hopelessly clueless to the middle class. The more they try the worse they look. Just the way it is and the way it will be. I do wish the Mittster would give up on those blue jeans though, just plain tacky. Quote:

IT guys in the IRQ chats use it for elite. I was trying to be modern 58 year old so I guess it kind of fits in with the subject lol.

Elitism is an attitude and isn't directly tied to someone's level of wealth. Go look up the definition. It has to do with believing your ideas should hold more weight because you are an intellectually superior member of a higher class. The vast majority of the wealthy people I know aren't even a little bit elitist (as I generally choose not to spend a lot of time around people who are detached from reality in such a way - mostly because they are usually rather boring).
Obama and Michelle fit the textbook definition of elites and Hilary Rosen is probably right in there too. Just another example of liberal hypocrisy (those are common and plentiful). As the public gets to know more about the Romneys as the election spotlight shines, the DNC will have a hard time trying to sell the idea that they are elites (as indeed they are not) to all but the very dim - which is of course their base. |
Yawn!!!!

It is precisely the point I was trying to get across, something akin to totally f**king clueless. :) Carl |
Yeah, nothing elitist, arrogant or conceited about the party of Gingrich and Limbaugh....
(Hooooo, boy...........) The Republicans have mastered the art of telling you how much "holier than thou" they are with a warm smile and a firm handshake. That's the only real difference. Dave |
Reminds me of when I shook hands with Nixon at the tender age of eight.
My Republican mother had taken me to Youngstown for his speech and baby kissing tour in 1972. Tricky Dick took my hand, said, "Nice to meet ya, young fella." and moved down the barricade. When we got home, my Mom gleefully told Pop, her FDR Democrat husband, "Davey shook hands with the president!". He looked at me with a raised eyebrow and said; "You shook hands with Nixon?" "Yessir." "Go wash it.":p Dave |

Born and raised in a very poor family in Northern Minnesota. Worked in the CCC/WPA camps in the 1930s. Served twelve years in the Navy, WW2 Veteran. He worked a lot. All the OT he could get at the Chrysler plant, worked part time at the Ashland station down the street doin' oil changes and minor mainenance stuff on cars and also painted houses on weekends. At one point he had six kids at home and one in college. The only things he counted as "his" was his clothes, his car, his books and his dog. (He would look at us, and say; "My dog stinks. You need to wash him.":)) Everything else was "ours". He read every chance he got. He'd read a book and if he liked it, he would keep it. If it was so-so, or he didn't care for it, he would donate it to the public library. When he died, we gave them the rest, and they FILLED the back of my brothers Silverado more than once and had it squatting all the way down. Rarely watched T.V., unless Johnny Carson or a ballgame was on. Referrred to it as "The Idiot Box". He believed the world would be a better place if everyone worked hard, stood firm for strong wages and placed the needs of others ahead of their own. He despised Ronald Reagan and the Conservative movement that began with Goldwater. My mother was a staunch Republican from a very Republican family---She would beat us for being reluctant to go to church with her. Or if we had violated any of the plethora of anal retentive rules she had set forth. The only person she didn't try to bully was Pop. Because she new he was a rare gem. The only mistake Pop made was working so much that he didn't fully realize what was going on until we were all full grown. There, now you know. Dave |
Sounds like a great man, Dave. I'm sure he would be proud of the man you have become.

It would be more accurate to say he didn't care for the movement that the man represented. Reagan could be entertaining at times. He was an amiable chap. Dave |
