ou guys may be my only hope. -seriously!
about this turntable, that is. now as much as i dislike AK and what it stands for, i think you guys may be my only hope on identifying this TT and telling me something about it. ive posted this on multiple fourms and have had next to no results, so maybe the good guys of AK, the few that are left and dont hate my guts, can help out..
hitachi ps-33 so yesterday i picked up this hitachi turntable that more or less didnt exist. there is little to no info about it on the web. i searched all types of fourms and sites and found one one refrence to it on all of cyberspace, this is truly a rare and obscure table. its a large, heavy, and very very well made hitachi that rivals most high end sansui and pioneers from the period, (late 1960s, i guess) i dont think the headshell is original, but the rest of it is. can anyone shed some light on this truly forgotton turntable of the past?? http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/...2/tech8027.jpg http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/...2/tech8028.jpg http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/...2/tech8030.jpg i dont like turning to the dark side, but i have no choice. can anyone tell me anything at all about this very obscure and all but totally forgotton turntable?! |
Looks like a nice 'table.
I have no information on it. Dave |
I think it's Japanese.

What is that platter made of, Rob? Dave |

The lateral balance looks a little heavy, and the anti-skating looks way light.

I have and you are right it is a very nice table. A very big footprint I must say.
Under the plater do you have a extra spindle? Mine does and the belt is a big one something like a 27". A little better look at the weight and arm. Barney |
Micro Seiki manufactured a lot of the Japanese turntables in the 60's and beyond. They were built to specifications provided by the customer. Micro Seiki is still around today but got out of the TT business in the 90's. My TEAC TN 400 was made by Micro Seiki.

Micro Seiki made Luxman 'tables as well. I've owned my PD264 since 1983. I was thinking that arm on Robs Hitachi looked like a Micro Seiki.....
If this is the case, then that should be a nice TT, Rob. Dave |
so you guys think its a micro-seiki? ive heard good things about them too. i hope you guys are right? maybe someone can post about this model over ay AK since im not allowed there and possibly get some awnsers for me? that might help.
