Trolltown!

I just wanted to thank most everyone here for making AK a better place!
A masterful stroke of genius, gather them all together in one place and pretty soon the cannibals take care of everything.
Political discourse? What a fucking joke! It's more like projectile diarrea in here. I need a shower and some disinfectant.

I'm feeling the love!:)

Have you ever gone to a political site outside this one?

I can link you to some extremely nasty places that make this board look ilke Grandmas Knitting Circle.

Pass me the red yarn, won't you dearie?

Bobabode,

If you make it past the initial heckling, you become one of the pack, and it gets fun. Few people here really take this crap seriously.

Hang in there, Dude, you've almost made it.:D

The number 8 or the number 12?:)

piece-itpete 01-17-2012 02:13 PM

LOL!

Bob, I'm with Dave, we actually enjoy the punishment. I have a deeper understanding of different viewpoints now. Even if they are wrong! :p

Btw, showering is optional?

Until Microsoft finds a way to digitize and encode/decode odors, yes, showering is optional.:p

You guys think I am joking when I say that I can't die just yet because there are people out there that I have yet to piss off, but I am not joking.:p

Years ago a pastor informed me that the Good Lord had put me on earth for just that purpose.

Alright, alright....I just want to see tweedle dee(neo) and tweedle duh (chas)in a cage fight before I actively seek banishment. Where the fire hose?

Yeah... That's the ticket!:)

I had a good friend sign up here, he's not posted once and not sure he's been back since as this place was far to tame for the likes of a union organizer like himself. ;)

I think some of us have a lot of respect for some here on the board. Even if we are worlds apart in our beliefs (not many really are. As normal, if we were in the same room having a few drinks common ground would come rather quickly after the initial pissing match)

Stick around Boba...it's a good time if nothing else ;)

I remember when I was on a local political BBS (For youngsters, BBS does not mean Better Bullshit) forum. We fought like hell and then one day someone suggested we all meet for pizza and beer. It was interesting putting faces with the political positions. We kept periodically meeting for several years until the internet destroyed BBS systems.

PC is surprisingly mild and rational relative to a lot of political forums. It seems that usually they get completely dominated by one particular position or just devolve into simple shouting matches. Here, I think there is a nice balance. I find it much more interesting and fun than debating the finer points of speaker wire.

I once got a really good deal on a pair of bi-wired speaker cables as thick as garden hose. $300, original MSRP was $1,400.

My impression after extensive use?

Those stupid things are so dang stiff you need a conduit bender to hook them up. Then when you're all done.......You realize that the $1 a foot monster cable wasn't all that bad after all.

Did BBS come before or after the advent of smoke signals?

IF YOU PAY FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN LAMP-CORD, YOU HAVE BOUGHT THE SNAKE-OIL AND WASTED YOUR MONEY!!!!!

Couldn't resist. :D

BTW, I use old extension cords, and they seem to work quite well.

I concur. The wildest I went was twisting up some Cat-5 cables and covering it with Tech-Flex. I only did that because I had the Cat-5 and the covering.

Sometimes it's nice to have the clearly identified + and - cables, but I have found that a circuit tester and some red nail polish solves that problem too. And banana plugs on both ends also helps. Unless one is ADD, like this poster, and constantly shifts around components and speakers, the easy polarity identification is not that big a deal either.

D-Ray

I did the 500 miles of cat5 braiding too, I still use them. I biwire simply because I won some cables last AK fest (you guys ARE going, right??).

After I had a loose banana plug fry my old Marantz I switched to locking bananas.

One thing I noticed, I placed a little pebble on top of my amp. As I move it around it changes the sound!

Amazing. If anyone wants one let me know, I think I can reproduce them for $1,397.31 each.

Plus shipping and handling.

You'll have to do better than that.

How do I know that you won't gouge me on the S&H???

It depends on what gauge you order.

!4g zip cord, although my Vandy 3s came with some heavy blue jean cables. Sheesh, probably cost more originally than what I paid for the speakers($425) including said cables.

I started braiding, but then just did a twist of the three Cat-5 cables. I was working with 20 foot runs and the braiding was taking too long; hence, simple twist, some heat shrink, and then the Tech-Flex. Poked a lot of holes in my fingers working with the ends. They look nice, sound fine, and were more or less free.

I really get a kick out of those wire risers that I've seen. Your pebble sounds like a plan; however, I much prefer my stone pyramid that sits on mine.

Everyone seems to be overlooking the most critical component in a dedicated audio system.

Attachment 1128

If you still have doubts about the effectiveness of your rekkerd player setup, you might contact the utility company and inquire about replacing your entrance cables with 4/0 silver litz braid, and ask about any contractors in your area who have experience at constructing a Faraday cage around a home.

You could be completely BS-ing here, and I wouldn't have a clue. I plug my stereo into a surge protector/ power strip. The lights come on and sound comes out. If I put on good source material, I generally like the sound that is coming out.

D-Ray

I learned my lesson. I still have those stiff cables on the McSystem, because they look cool. Everywhere else------18 gauge wire from Radio Shack.

Rex E. 01-18-2012 06:45 PM

I never bought into the cable crap but then stumbled into some Kimber Kable dirt cheap and actually noticed a difference. Prolly all in my head but it was there on anothers system as well.

My nerves are all dead from work, drugs, liquor, loud systems, bad pussy, and this shithole.

PS...I deleted my last post because I missed the smiley.

This place is just a place to screw around for the most part. We all get screwed by politics.

Glad to have you aboard loser.

Yeah, but at least we got a bunch of loveable assholes contributing to this shithole.

It makes it entertaining at times. Other times, not so much.

Depends on your mood, I guess.

Sometimes it's good to stay out of here for a week or so and just take the shit out on your neighbor or coworker. :D

I've noticed that a carton of Stella Cirrhosis and blowing a gallon of snot out of my noggin makes a HELL of a difference in MY rekkerd player.

Like you say, it's all in your head.
