What really made me think to start another Palin thread was (besides boredom) watching her interview by Greta Van Susteren last night.

Even Van Susteren, her BFF asked her repeatedly for specifics (about the Israeli/Palestinian issue) only to have her continue to circle in generality which clearly showed she had no clue what she was speaking about.

Sexist comments are OK as long as they're directed at the GOP, because everyone knows the GOP is sexist anyway. My opinion of the woman was formed long ago when she accepted a position that she herself knew she was eminently unqualified to assume. In the process she exposed her daughter to nationwide embarassment as she knew full well what the media would do. I disagree with what the media did but I am not naive enough to have expected any different outcome. That alone made her a poor mother in my eyes. That she has continued down that road with a swollen ego believing she is qualified to run this country pretty well nailed it as far as I am concerned.

Her star has fizzled. Why do we continue to waste time on her? Someone needs to put a sign on her door: "Please don't feed the ego."

And here is another example of why this forum is shrinking down to just a few diehards spewing from their mouths crap and intolerance towards any thought process that is other than their own. Painter is on to something and if we refuse to see it then this will all go away sooner rather than later. What the hell happened to polite disagreement? Aren't we here to hear different viewpoints and perhaps learn something, or we here to call each other stupid ass-holes and dumb mofos? Go back just a couple of weeks and see who is posting. This started as a great place to air your views and see what others thought. Why would anybody dare to post anything other than what the majority position here is now? Open forum indeed!!!

I agree with your desire for civility, but to be honest, I have been observing an uptick in civility. I've seen several people here lately whose views diverge significantly, nevertheless engaging in civil conversations and sometimes finding common ground. I think most of the heat is reserved for the substantive arguments, and less of it is spent on personal attacks - particularly against other forum members. A lot of the remarks here are not fit for an etiquette class, but they are the type of remarks one might expect from a contact sport like politics..

I'll point myself out as one of those who is too quick to pull the trigger on a cheap shot, but I am trying to listen a bit more. I am also finding that the more we know about people here, the more we see how difficult it is to put a general label on any of them.

My two cents on the remark about Ms. Palin. She has put herself out there as a very public figure. She has cashed in on her celebrity in every way possible, and she has been quick to take pot shots at anyone outside of a very narrow band of the political spectrum. The comment was not directed at another member of this forum, but on one who has invited scrutiny of not only her political views, but her ethics as well. IMHO, the remark was not out of bounds.

Maggies. I have a set of Model Ones in the garage that are way too far gone. I worked on them for a month. They must have lived near the ocean for many years. The bass panel wires are totally eaten up. Now there's a tears in the mylar. Very sad.:(

People come along proposing changes that will destroy my way of life and I am supposed to be ever so polite? Strange, I really don't see things that way, those Tea Baggers are my enemies, in fact they are the enemies of anyone wanting freedom. I do not tell my neighbours how to live their lives and I will not have them tell me how I should live mine. I am sorry if my attitude bothers some people and I have a simple cure - put me on your ignore list, a really very simple thing to do.

I abide by the laws of the land, even some that I disagree with as they are the law. I will vote for people who I believe will be a benefit to the nation and that is the only way to make changes - by the ballot box.
