PROUDLY from the Great State of Tennessee...Altho I must confess Nashville & Memphis are really as foreign to me as Noo Yawk or Chicago...Us hillbillies really have more in common w/folks from Asheville, Lexington, Ky, Roanoke & maybe north Georgia than we do w/them flatlanders in middle or west Tennessee..

Us Missourians got the same problem with KC and St. Louis, not to mention Columbia.

To be honest, I can barely call myself a hillbilly, just managed to be in the Northern edge of the Ozarks. But, back in the "good ol' days" we had some fellers around here what could damn near "out hillbilly" most anybody. Now we're turning into a bunch of them damn "cosmerpaltins"

To tell the truth, my favorite part of Missouri is way down South, the part, like they say, we could cut off and give to Arkansas...and raise the IQ level of both states. Hell, that's pretty close to Tennysee.

Now we're down to a peckerwood insultin' a cracker...what's this world comin' to? But I love ya, an' not in the banjo strummin' sort of way,

I wouldn't live in Memphis for it. And NOT because its too hot, got too many "Chocolate" inhabitants (per Ray Nagin), or even that its full of Democrats, either. I truly think that when the "Big One" comes, it AIN'T gonna be in Los Angeles or San Franfreako. It'll be either in Memphis or St Louis, w/a strong leaning to Memphis. And I doubt if many of the buildings are "Earthquake proof". You just watch. I wouldn't be surprised to see a large inland sea where Memphis is one of these days... They have tremblors down there all the time...

Nah, I wouldn't have a problem w/it. I can get along w/about anybody. I spout off a lot, but in reality, I'm basically a pussycat.

Actually there is no doubt in my mind that you would get along with anyone regardless of race or culture.
I'd bet if you lived around here you would not even refer to people by race once you realized how alienating it can be.:)
