It's all about Race

I don't know which is worse, Obama saying that doctors cut on kids just for money, or saying that a police force acted stupidly (is that even a word). I don't think that every time a white police officer arrests a black, that it racially motivated. This whole race thing seems to be going backwards IMO. I thought that we had lots of this stuff worked out by promoting them ahead of more deserving whites and so on. My Union newspaper asks for Blacks and Latinos to apply for the apprenticeship in no uncertain terms. Isn't that racist? I think the world has lost it's common sense fellas.

Charles 07-23-2009 05:22 PM

Hate to say it, but Obama's a bigger racist than I EVER was.

Chas

Sandy G 07-23-2009 05:27 PM

Yep. I further think that he will set race relations back a LONG way, & make it impossible for another black man to be elected president for a long, long time...

I see that Bill Cosby climbed his ass for talking "out of school" about the cop who arrested the Harvard Professor.

Perhaps I'm being rude, but he needs to shut his pie hole unless the teleprompter is up and running.

Sometimes he doesn't act any smarter than that goofball Biden, but other times I wonder.

Hey, answer me this one; how does a guy go from being arrested in the Rodney King riots, and being a self proclaimed communist, to the green jobs Tzar? Beck thinks it's all about black Nationalism. I think he only denied Rev. Wright long enough to get elected. Can you believe there are Americans that believe he sat in that church for 20 years and never heard the good Rev. talk down "whitey"? It's a damn shame I tell ya.

You know...instead of him giving blacks encouragement to follow his path...he takes on racial issues from his podium. Wonder what his girls think? I mean...they were sooo proud of their dad. There appears to be more of CHANGE than meets the eye. I was indeed disappointed. I expected more of him.

Obama admitting he did not have all the facts and accusing the police Lieutenant of stupidity? The bravest of the brave are our military, firemen and police officers and not necessarily in that order. Depends on what you need defending. Perhaps he and Michelle (taking their daughters!) sitting in a church for twenty years listening to racist Jeremiah Wright has influenced him. In any case...for many people...it's going to be difficult to take him SERIOUSLY about anything. Would grandma and grandpa be proud? Sadly...once you play the race card...the games over. :(

Really? Suppose some neighbor call 911 and says he/she saw something suspicious around my house.

The police come and I answer the door and they demand to know who I am, I will tell them. I will also tell them that they bloody well have 30 seconds to get off my land.

If on the otther hand they tell me the reason why they are here I will invite them in.

Demand? Not ask? Why would you be belligerant and demand they leave? Remember...they came to investigate a possible CRIME in progress. To protect you and your property. It's their job. Egad  If your attitude is indeed your attitude in your above post...you might be considered interferring in the investigation process. Remember you did not call 911...someone else did and ALL calls are monitored. I could just hear a lawsuit being based on a 911 call NOT be properly investigated.
Just saying...

Methinks I'll pull the pin on a grenade and toss it out there by asking how Obama can be considered black when his mother was white.

Well... as an artist I work with color daily. Although there are different hues to a color...it is what it is.
I just was hoping he being of mixed race...we could expect more understanding...not division...I seriously doubt he has helped in matters of race relations.

That's the thing-Barry Soretoe ain't REALLY a black guy-Neither is Tiger Woods. Both of 'em "trade" on their "blackness" to get people to bow 'n' scrape, & all the inane white liberals to assuage their guilt...Charles is right- Barry is a slick pol from Duh Great City of Chicogguh, where corruption is a fine art...All this "black" business/horseshyte is a mere smokescreen to keep people from focusing on how he's drowning us in unrepayable debt, staggering tax increases, & foisting a western European style social democracy on us...And like any good slick'em 'n' dick'em politico, he doesn't want anything he does looked at too closely.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Besides, don't look at Barry, he's a puppet. Look at the people who put him where he's at.

It's ashame we have elections.
I mean look what happens, a black man from a city became president.

Sandy G 07-24-2009 07:17 PM

Shouldn't have compared/contrasted Tiger & His Holiness...Tiger really IS a great golfer, IMHO, but ol' Barry, well, I guess he IS a world-class flim-flam man...

I am not for one second defending any other response in this post but I do have a question for you. Why is it OK for people of color to be racist ?

Grumpy 07-24-2009 09:39 PM

Maybe this is why he said what he did. Just a wag.

YVW, Ed. IMO, people should not ignore their heritage simply because it may be convenient or popular.

Note that I said "come to my door and DEMAND" they need an attitude adjustment these days. He can come to the door and say "Sir we had a report of suspicious activity around your house, did you see or hear anything". To automatically assume that I could be a burglar is unwarranted.

I'll give you a true example; frequently when there is a bad accident down the road from us (two lane rural route) they will detour traffic. The problem is they assume everyone knows the area and never mark the detour. When it happened to me I found myself twenty miles out of my way.

The most recent accident - same place - my 74 year old white haired wife was told to detour and the officer walked away before she could say a word. She tapped the horn and he turnaed and charged at her car Yelling "Did you just blow your horn at me!" She asked him to calm down and that all she wanted to know was where the detour would take her.

By and large I find 98% of the police in our area to be fine upstanding men and women, but there always seems there has to be the few rotten apples

It's not. In fact I have always disliked the fact that the Obamas are raciest.
My post was more about highlighting that this site is the message board equivalent of right wing hate radio. Facts are abandoned, statements are twisted and all is wrong with anyone that does not embrace 1950 culture.
There are many racists posts here and yet a relatively simple statement from someone we elected is a major problem.

I have found that number to be only 97%, ;)

Side stepping the question again because you feel it is unimportant...

I resent the fact that you paint an incomplete picture of this site. I for one want differing opinions here as it was what our country was founded on.

In fact we are about to start a campaign in the near future trying to get a younger college crowd involved at PC.org as I would love to hear their thoughts on todays hot topics.

You may think I do not value your opinions but I do. Its just funny that when a question is posed that you don't feel is relevant to a discussion, and others do, you side skirt it.

I think they figure it's "payback time". And I suppose they deserve a little of this. But I've noticed this reverse racism has been going on now for close to 50 yrs, and it's time let it go.

For one thing, going through life with a chip on your shoulder is going to do you more harm than good. And a person needs to be able to differate between a "racist" and someone who doesn't like you because you're a prick. They may treat you pretty much the same, but there's a big difference.

Please reread my response. My first two words was a direct answer. "It's not" (OK to be racist if you are black.) Then I said that "In fact I have always disliked the fact that the Obamas are raciest."
I don't know how to be more direct.
Sorry you resent (truly) me thinking of this site as the message board equivalent of right wing hate radio but it is an honest straight forward opinion.

If you ever feel I side step an issue for any reason just ask me for direct clarification. Frankly that is why my post count is down, I find most facts are abandoned in these threads and most posters are not willing to challenge there own preconceived ideas and are to needy of value bonding to open up and think through issues.
Does not mean I am right, but that is my sincere straight forward belief.

Twodogs 07-25-2009 01:57 PM

I think it's interesting that this board seems to lean to the right somewhat. It tells me that the "majority" which elected Obama is not really in tune with politics enough to want to spend time on a political board. I wasn't really interested enough either until I saw things heading south at breakneck speed. Eight months ago I would have never dreamed of phoning an emailing congressmen, much less sending money to Republicans. Times change I guess.

I have found the racism in the black community to be cultural, nothing to do with "payback." I have never met an "old black man" who did not blame "whitey" for his failing in life.
This belief is then passed down to the new generation just as religion is passed down. The educated know that this chain needs to be broken but cultural beliefs are hard to change.
I have found this also exists in the Jewish community (to a lesser degree).

If you think that stereotyping by the police is not a way of life I believe you are wrong. We moved to the "country" a few years ago and I bough my child's mom a brand new shinny Mercedes R350. She is Hispanic and was promptly pulled right over by a young white cop. He could not have been nicer telling her how nice the car was and asked could he see the inside as he was thinking of getting one for his wife. She came home thrilled that someone noticed that she had a big shinny car. I did not have the heart to tell her that the "good old boy cop" had cleverly gotten her to let him search the car. I never filed a complaint as I felt it would only have the locals against us but it sure was not a friendly welcome.
On the flip side I have been accused of favoring white customers over black customers when in a crowded retail setting (many years ago) I failed to realize that an elderly black women had not been cared for. She came up to me in a huff and announced that she would be back with her entire Harlem apartment building to teach me a lesson after closing. She must have been 80 years old.

Oh my.
Twodogs, what am I gonna do with you?
We really need to sit on the porch and rock a while with a beer and talk things over.:)
(and you can smoke as much as you like)

Twodogs 07-25-2009 02:18 PM

I truly think that many, many people who voted for Obama never had before, and won't again. Hey, maybe we could go have a beer (pop for me) with the cop, the prez, and the Harvard guy that got profiled.:p

Twodogs 07-25-2009 02:21 PM

BTW, I really do like reading your opinions. You're nearly always wrong, but hey, this is the good ol' USA for now, and everyone's opinion should matter. The balance is what makes this country so great.

Are you not being selective in your remarks against police officers? Or have you had dealings with 97% and found your judgement to be a fact. Just asking...

Sandy G 07-25-2009 06:05 PM

I'd about give my EYETEETH to be able to sit 'n' drink a Cold One w/about any of youse byrds, but that's a BIG "No-No" for me anymore...About all I can offer you is Diet Coke, Sprite, or Mountain Dew or water...Actually, once you get used to 'em, the "diet" stuff ain't so bad, & now the "real" stuff tastes unbelievably syrupy & makes me sick most of the time. But I WOULD like to have a REAL Iced Tea w/3.5 metric tonnes of sugar innit, like back in the Old Days...(grin)

You know damn well a cop did not pull over a $70,000 car to see it up close.

Even my buddies who are/were on the force told me to just forget about it, it is just what is done.
If you really believe your post, it is incredibly naive. I know that is not the case and you just blurted out anything to be anti Obama.
IMHO, this is exactly what is wrong with this country.

Just an FYI, I have offered no opinion as to weather the Harvard professor or the cop was at fault. But you know my opinion don't you?
Good grief.
